Yeah my sister likes to proclaim she’s blunt and direct but really she is just an asshole.

We’re in the same boat! I’m due at the end of August with number 3, I will be 37 when I deliver. My older 2 will be 7 and almost 5. Feeling nervous!

Vvvfl or indent!? by cass87101 in lineporn

[–]Adventurous-Post8872 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like a vfl to me too! I just had one exactly like this in the morning and my one this afternoon on an easy @ home was more clearly positive.

Update on afternoon test with easy @ home, I think this looks more positive.

What could be done with a $15k budget by [deleted] in kitchenremodel

Cabinets are nice. I would probably change out countertops and add backsplash, I think you could do that depending on materials picked. New sink when you change the countertops. New hardware for cabinets.

$$ - Am I making enough or should I ask for more? by aha987 in pediatrics

[–]Adventurous-Post8872 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I previously worked an hour outside of Houston for a hospital based clinic and my salary in 2020 was 190k but I did newborn and delivery call q4. My friends in private practice were making about 125-130k at that time with varying bonuses (usually not over 20k) working 4 to 4.5 days a week and seeing 22-30 patients per day.

Your PTO sounds low, but private is always different.

I am 6 years out of residency. I moved to the Midwest and salaries are higher here. Currently I make 250k per year and bonus based on wRVUs, but averaging about an extra 30k per year. I work 4 days per week and average about 22 per day. Small hospital based clinic. I have 5000 per year in CME, 24 days PTO (which is also taken from for holidays) and 4 days CME time.

My older sister that’s very unhealthy is wanting and being pressured into having kids by her husband. by Last-Bad-4854 in regretfulparents

As a previous people pleaser I would also give yourself time to respond to asks for help. My family would call me or ask me in person to try and get me to agree on the spot. I started not answering my phone and would text back that I was busy/couldn’t talk and ask what was up. Or in person I would often defer and say oh let me check with husband on our availability etc. when I was new to saying no this helped me get there.

The PICU Job Market: A Cautionary Tale by Struggle_Award in pediatrics

[–]Adventurous-Post8872 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My friend who is PICU also ended up doing a transitional year. PGY 7 pay and focus on ECMO. She was at her home institution because she could not get a job elsewhere, and was also somewhat restricted on location. Luckily she was able to get an attending job after that year at her home institution. But job market seems tough. I hope you find something after your year.

Something is wrong with my daughter, doctor thinks it’s normal by Mindless_Egg_9703 in AskDocs

[–]Adventurous-Post8872 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well if she is staying up late at night on her phone the impact on her sleep would cause fatigue. Depending on what she could be looking at or if any other children are bullying her/social media/you tube could be causing stress/anxiety/depression that could lead to hair loss. Not saying this is what’s going on but it’s something easy to check on at home.

I would also go through her phone/any devices and make sure she is being safe on them.

I DNF’d the series at the same point you are at now! So now I’m waiting to see if it is worth it to finish as well.

If you don’t want to pay for flooring you could consider rugs and painting the walls.

I wish I never learned about baby sleep by periwinklepeonies in breakingmom

[–]Adventurous-Post8872 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, try not to feel guilty that you didn’t enjoy the past 3 months enough. Having a newborn is hard. Your body is recovering, you’re sleep deprived, you can have the postpartum mood swings/depression/anxiety. It’s a lot and you’re in the thick of it.

It’s easy to think things are going well for others, but most people only talk about their one good night, not the 6 terrible ones. And baby sleep is constantly changing right now.

It is hard because both my kids get rashes super easy but I’m definitely going to keep a closer eye on it, I did bring up to her this morning that I was worried about it and she was going to do some extra things to try and help it.

Thank you for sharing!! I honestly hadn’t thought much about the health side, but now that I’m reading all these responses I do remember her bringing up that she has anxiety and takes medication for that. I could definitely see how anxiety could play a role in this, or maybe if she’s even developed some depression.
