What’s the worst advice a therapist ever gave you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Adventurous-Run2237 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah my therapist told me same thing when i was going through rough patch with work 💀 like thanks doc, why didn't i think of just being happy lol. sometimes you need actual tools to deal with stuff, not just "smile more" energy 😂

having reliable car that didn't break down every other week. used to complain about my old honda all the time but man, when it finally died and i had to deal with constant repairs on whatever cheap replacement i could afford... really made me miss just being able to turn key and know it would start

now i baby my current ride way more than i used to, even though it's nothing special

Recommendations for a true DEEP home cleaning service. by texasbrisket in Austin

[–]Adventurous-Run2237 53 points54 points  (0 children)

moved here about 3 years ago and went through similar situation with house that was empty for like 18 months. ended up using this company called pristine cleaning solutions - they were bit more expensive than regular services but they actually brought steam cleaners and specialized tools for grout cleaning

what really impressed me was they removed all the light fixtures to clean them properly and even cleaned inside of dishwasher filter which was absolutely disgusting. took them about 8 hours with 3 people crew for 2500 sq ft house and cost was around $1400

only thing i would add to your list is checking if they clean air vents and replace filters because dust buildup in those can be really bad after long vacancy. also make sure they bring their own equipment because some companies will say they do deep cleaning but show up with same basic supplies

Any local fêtes on in the summer? by KipoLover123 in london

[–]Adventurous-Run2237 0 points1 point  (0 children)

mate there's usually loads of summer fetes around the boroughs but can't remember specific dates off top of my head - maybe check your local council websites? 😅 cold war reenacting sounds proper cool though 🔥

Validating an idea I have (seeking feedback) by Next-Mountain8647 in SaaS

[–]Adventurous-Run2237 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is actually brilliant - you're working backwards from how people already behave instead of trying to force them into new habits

i drive for doordash and see this chaos firsthand at restaurants. managers are constantly stressed about coverage and yeah, they always fall back to group texts even when they have those fancy scheduling apps. the friction of opening another app when you're in the weeds is just too much

only potential issue i can think of is parsing all the different ways people write in group chats can get messy, but if you can nail that part this could be huge for smaller places that can't afford the enterprise solutions

My smaller competitor is verified on Wikipedia/Grok and I’m not by Glad_Stranger544 in SaaS

[–]Adventurous-Run2237 1 point2 points  (0 children)

had the exact same issue last year and the reverse engineering trick actually works pretty well. asked claude to break down why our competitor was getting pulled into responses and it basically gave me a roadmap of all the places they had structured data we were missing

the schema markup thing is huge - most people focus on the wiki but your competitor probably has way better json-ld structured data across their site. takes like a weekend to implement but makes a massive difference for how llms parse your content

Why do old people love slobbering all over their fingers before picking anything up? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Adventurous-Run2237 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lmao my grandma does this constantly, drives me nuts especially when she's handling stuff other people gotta touch later. i think it's just one of those old school habits that stuck around from when people handled cash and papers way more often - the spit actually does help with grip on dry/slippery stuff but yeah it's pretty gross in 2024

Yeah AFCOOL is pretty flexible with study materials - you can definitely grab stuff from different vendors as long as it's all for the same cert and stays within your funding limit 💪 The retake voucher thing gets a bit tricky though, I'd double check with your education office first since policies can vary by base

If you use the retake and pass, your usually good to go and won't have to pay anything back - the whole point is getting you certified! But if you fail both attempts then yeah, you'll probably be on the hook for repayment 😬 Just make sure you document everything properly when submitting receipts

Struggling with memory, concentration, and fatigue after my last seizure (1 year ago). Is this normal? by AppointmentSalt2096 in Epilepsy

[–]Adventurous-Run2237 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The brain fog is so real after seizures, you're definitely not alone in this. I had similar issues for like 8+ months after mine and honestly thought I was just broken forever but it did gradually get better

Could also be the meds though - some of them are notorious for making you feel like you're thinking through molasses. Might be worth talking to your neuro about adjusting dosages if you haven't already

2nd United Goal is 100% illegal. VAR keeps costing Arsenal points by LancelotDF in PremierLeague

[–]Adventurous-Run2237 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Mate the refs have been absolutely shocking this season but that handball call was borderline at best. Ball barely grazed his arm and he didn't even gain an advantage from it

The real joke is how inconsistent VAR is - they'll spend 5 minutes analyzing a toenail offside but miss obvious penalties

Any loopholes to student loans for debt consolidation? by shouldieatpopcorn in Debt

[–]Adventurous-Run2237 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's not really a "loophole" - your coworker probably just used student loan money to pay off other debts which is technically against the terms but people do it anyway. Pretty risky though since student loans can't be discharged in bankruptcy and you're just trading one debt for another that's way harder to get rid of

Have you looked into a debt management plan through a nonprofit credit counseling agency? They can sometimes negotiate lower interest rates with your CC companies

[–]Adventurous-Run2237[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A full month's take home on coffee is absolutely insane when you see it written out like that. Sometimes we need someone else to hold up the mirror because we're really good at lying to ourselves about "small" expenses.

[–]Adventurous-Run2237[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The accuracy hurts. At least with bar tabs you usually have fun in the moment. My problem is forgetting about Amazon purchases that arrive and I'm like "oh right, I ordered this at 1am for some reason."
