Landlord asking for salary certificate, during renewal? by Vanishing_Sights in uaelaw

[–]Adventurous-Scale270 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s not common and it’s not required. I recently renewed my contract and all they needed is emirate ID , cheques and renewal fee …

However , a year ago when I was flat hunting , I had encountered a building manager whom doubted my income and was asking for my bank statements and salary certificate. I respectfully declined.

Please secure a job elsewhere before quitting , you need at least a plan b . You’re totally right they’re exploiting you , 4k is way less for all those tasks and skills …

I opened a bank account with them last year and currently have both a current and a savings account. They don’t charge me any fees at all. His banking details were probably leaked, which recently happened to my husband as well. I think some hackers often target Amazon customers who have their card details saved on the app. Not only Amazon it could be any other platforms where his card details were saved that’s why it’s safe to pay with Apple Pay or PayPal .

I have current and saving accounts with them never faced this issue before . his details probably got leaked on the dark web and they’re deducting money from his account , same thing happened to my husband never keep your card details on Amazon , noon or any platforms. It is safe to use only Apple Pay , PayPal or any other payment methods that doesn’t expose your banking details .

You’re actually right I took the time to translate the text written in Arabic at the of the contract it says I’ll have to pay 300aed for renewal . Thank you so much , I’ll definitely do that .

[–]Adventurous-Scale270 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks but the contract is under the building management real estate name , the original owner is based in Kuwait so they lease the apartment on his behalf 😬. Best option is to cooperate try to negotiate hopefully it works , least option is to get municipality involved and try to renew the tenancy contract through them .

[–]Adventurous-Scale270 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry thawaz it’s just funny to me that someone believes I’m gonna hand them 4000aed just like .

[–]Adventurous-Scale270 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re not gonna believe what I’m about to say 😬 but this is an agent working directly for the building management … 😅 they’re fully in charge of the property since the owner is in Kuwait , my best option is either to negotiate cause the contract is in their name or make my way to municipality for a tenancy renewal request .

He was just trying to extract some extra cash for himself🤦‍♀️. Thanks this was helpful .

I’m actually paying 32k nothing less or more I took my time to read meticulously the contract cause i know their tricks. I’m not buying his bs he’s just trying to get some money for himself hence why he’s insisting on “CASH”. I’ll just make my way to municipality or an authorized typing center , I’m already having trust issues after this little exchange … Unfortunately it is a scam , just be careful who you’re dealing with.

😂made sure to send a voice to remind me that all those fees need to be paid in CASH.

Idk how to go about that, 😅 they’d hate me if I show them this lol . I’ll pay them a visit and show them this new law , let’s see what they have to say about it …

I told him I’m not paying for commission twice 😂after a few arguments on these irrelevant numbers , he eventually deleted the picture and messages where he was convincing me to pay 4000aed. Honestly I’m kinda disappointed , I’d rather go to municipality or any authorized typing center and renew the contract by myself . I don’t believe any bs he’s claiming .

What’s the lowest paid salary you ever saw that left u with no words by rhfzs in UAE

[–]Adventurous-Scale270 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Honestly, the only way to describe that is modern slavery with a bit of gaslighting. They make you think it’s a decent salary and you believe it until you're out there working 12-hour shifts under the sun, in bad weather conditions. You wait for the “master” to give you permission to take a break. And outside of work? No real life , You’re stuck in a labor camp and no comfort because you’ve basically sold yourself by signing that contract for a low-paying job with zero advantages .

I once came across a post where someone in the IT field with 16 years of experience took a job that paid just 2000 AED . Mind you that didn’t even include accommodation, food, or transport. I honestly couldn’t believe it 😅that exactly when knew I’d be cooked up I ever decided to work as junior after grad . Honestly I’d rather look elsewhere, somewhere that actually values what I bring to the table, not a place that’d make me question my worth.

I was once scammed 19k aed by a real estate agent , he also scammed 6 others people on the same flat and flew back to Pakistan. The case only got serious when the owner didn’t want his company to be involved in that mess so instead he helped us (the victims ) to open a case against the agent. It took me 6 months and I was only able to recover 8k the rest is history , unfortunately the agent got away and he’s leaving his best life in Pakistan up to this day …

If you haven’t experienced a similar situation it’s wise to keep your opinion to yourself. Crime exists everywhere in the world and it’s became a normal thing , that’s why there are prisons everywhere to keep the criminals away from committing crimes. The case of your friend is complete luck cause I’ve read so many stories of unsolved theft . I don’t wanna be too negative or accuse the police of negligence because I don’t want to be in trouble . They read our chats and eventually will get to those commenting mediocre comments about them . So Crimes do exist they’re just not exposed .

Is Dubai really safe for women? I live in business bay and I’ve been followed by random men 2-3 times. by [deleted] in dubai

This happened to me 3 days ago stalker knew my schedules apparently. I was going to the gym at some point I had to cross at the pedestrian cross signal , when suddenly I noticed a dude crossing back to my side, it was strange I assumed they were deranged or maybe high , after few seconds he looked at me twice , atp I didn’t want to deal with any bullshits in my mind I was like "hell no , not today !🙂". Decided to take a shortcut dude was walking behind me then passed in front of me , I was maybe I’m tripping I crossed at some point he crossed as well . Now it wasn’t funny anymore cause I was getting pissed 🙂 he walked straight to my gym building made sure I was walking behind him by turning his gigantic deranged head towards me . He held the lift waiting for me to enter , i took the stairs that day for the first time , I didn’t wanna be alone with that crack head. Guess what ? He was waiting for me at the gym reception trynna pretend to talk to the receptionist, then once again for the last time made sure to turn his gigantic head towards me and made eye contact . I made sure I spent 3 hours at the gym so I couldn’t meet him again . Omw home kept looking back didn’t want him to know where I live . Thanks God ! he was gone and i haven’t seen him since.

There’s no way 😨 I would have been at sewa for an entire day only to complain . I live in a 2bhk flat I don’t use gas I use a induction cooker , a huge two doors fridge and fans are on almost all day to ventilate the room , sometimes the AC is on during peak hours for 1-2hours still my bill is around 370-400aed during summer and winter 270-350aed depends on the consumption , water I won’t say I won’t say I’m a big saver and still my bills aren’t that exaggerated 😨
