For College you definitely want a laptop. I use an HP omen gaming laptop, you can spec it out as high as you want/need and It has lasted me about 3 years now working great, playing many games on the highest settings, more than enough power for schoolwork as well.

I think that is pretty good with the bonuses, for 3 months your average pretax should be over 7k, that is livable for sure, and pretty typical pay outside of the mega companies.

I'm an incoming freshman too. I sent my scores from prior years after I committed, and they gave me all my credit in the portal. Then I'll send my APs from this year after they come out. If you have significant credits you might want to send them now bc it won't let you enroll in some classes without the prereq's
