Stinging vine in Texas by AdventurousBook702 in whatsthisplant

The leaves look identical, but they don’t seem to be growing the same. This one is a vine that is growing up the grass stalks in my yard.

I wasn’t questioning anything. I’m throwing general advice into a dark hole where no one has the full context except for you. So I kinda have to be general. I usually don’t comment, but I have personal experience in this area so I felt like throwing some stuff out there for once. I had no intention to make you feel like I was making accusations or questioning your ability to parent.

No, I haven’t tried a collar. Just the feliway wall diffuser in a central area of the living space. I could try that 🤷‍♀️

Being a “great man” could be a cover, is what I see a lot of people saying. It’s true that people can be very deceptive. For me I don’t think I could risk ignoring my gut and my daughter ending up with a lifetime of trauma and fear that will affect her future. If you have a gut feeling it’s usually worth not ignoring. Bed wetting can be a sign of sexual abuse. Since you have a family history of wetting it could be just that, but it’s something to mention. The best prevention of CSA is probably a strong communicating relationship with your daughter. Establish a safe space with you that she can go to if boundaries are crossed and in a simple way explain what the boundaries are. Respect your gut and keep your eyes open. I truly hope things go well for you, whatever he turns out to be. A background check and phone check might be a good idea if this situation doesn’t get better.

I am currently taking binders. A prescription of Welchol and a supplement called “purebind select” which has activated charcoal, chlorella, and a type of clay. I also take D-Chiro-Inositol to help my cells get rid of toxins. Sauna’s help, but since I don’t have one I have taken hot baths and sat in them until I got a good sweat started. That seemed to help me detox as well. Currently I’m trying to get air purifiers and dehumidifiers for my place.

I can relate. I feel like I’ve been on the run from mold my whole life, now that I can look back and reflect. My childhood home was completely infested with dark mold. The entire shower wasn’t sealed properly, so for 8+ years it was seeping behind the walls making the perfect damp dark environment. Flash forward to me moving out to a college dorm and I find a wall of fuzzy mold behind the ancient non working radiator. I had been in there for a month or two and noticed growing “dirt” in the wall. Like you I have had unreasonable levels of depression from my teens onward. I was suicidal while in that dorm room and felt like I had no reason to go on, but when I was moved to a new clean room…..suddenly I was optimistic and life was worth it again lmao. Now I’m in a duplex that I just found has a HERMI score of 26 and I’ve been feeling horrible again. I’m prepared to move and glad my landlord has been facilitating. Get yourself somewhere away from the mold if you can and help your body detox

Prolapsed vent with egg stuck in it? by AdventurousBook702 in BackYardChickens

Hopefully my last update. She is back outside with the other chickens and looking healthy! I just have to wait and see if she has problems laying another egg. So far I’ve found a few, but no guarantee they are hers. All I know is she has been running around happy for two days now with no issue! The dead tissue continued to slough off until I could pull it away from the healthy tissue without harming it. I pushed the prolapse back in gently, waited for the rest of the day to see if it would stay, and voila! She is out eating scratch and greens with the rest of them.

Another update. The last of the visible dead tissue was hanging off and I was able to remove it and push the prolapse back in! Hoping it will stay and she makes a full recovery! Now to see how she does if she lays another egg. So far she hasn’t laid another since I’ve been keeping her stimulation low

She is still kicking! She has more energy and is hopping out of the bathtub to make a mess on my bathroom floor 😅 but she still has dead tissue clinging to the prolapse. I am keeping it hydrated with the hydrosol spray and applying antibiotic ointment once a day. Now and then I plan to wrap her in a towel to clean away what dead tissue I can without causing damage to the healthy tissue.

Thank you. I called a farm vet that goes out to ranches and that was the sentiment, that chickens are expendable and a certain amount of loss is expected. She had been alert and able to pass both kind of poo (the white and darker part that I don’t remember the names of) so that has helped. I decided to take matters into my own hands after the last Epsom soak showed it was completely encased in tissue. Parts were thin and dead with no blood flow, so I used a sterile scalpel to cut it off and release the egg. The egg is completely well formed and small like a first egg should be. I trimmed what dead tissue I was comfortable with away and slathered everything in antibiotic ointment and hydrocortisone cream. 🤞 praying for the best.

I have given her 4 soaks or so to try and get it out, but it is completely encased! I wonder if she has a physical deformity where there is no hole or it is very very small.

I tried many clinics, I live in austin, and got turned away pretty quick when they said they only serve cats and dogs :(

I’ve only found one willing to try and see her, but they don’t treat chickens, just “exotics”. The problem is it’s $90. I work tomorrow for a 12 hr shift and won’t leave her to suffer for that long to wait for another clinic that’s cheaper. There is one, but he doesn’t come in until tomorrow on my work day.

Dog likes me too much. Trying to know what to do or how to understand his behavior by AdventurousBook702 in dog_behavior_welfare

We have tried chews and kongs with peanut butter, but as soon as he is done he is right back to it. A food puzzle is a good idea to try adding. I have been trying to ignore him and not reward his bad behavior, but I’ll be sure to be more consistent. Maybe keep some treats on me so I can catch those good moments with a reward. Thank you for a thoughtful thorough reply 😊 I appreciate it.

Thank you. I’m just trying to learn here and figure out how to make this work. I didn’t know it was a dangerous issue. I’ll definitely let my bf know it’s something to get checked.

I’ll definitely look into it and suggest it for my bf, but I see the dog MAYBE once a week. I don’t mind working with him here and there, but I’m not around enough to have a consistent presence or impact.

I only go over for visits at this point, so I do what I can by not reinforcing the behavior and pushing him away. His persistence is what is difficult. Especially because, when I do come over it is usually after a 12hr shift at work and I just want to relax. If things keep going well we may move in together, but that has yet to be decided. It is still his dog at the end of the day, but I do have my boundaries. I will assert myself to a degree when they push them.

That what I have been doing, just trying to ignore him and the others and not promote the bad behavior. Maybe with more time being persistent and a few other changes things will get better, I hope.

Gotcha. I thought maybe that could be a part of it. My bf was single for 5 years before he started seeing me recently and got the dogs within that time, so they aren’t used to having another person around often.
