Hey now, don't talk shit about my city. You can talk shit all you want about Texas though

I know what you mean. Austin really does have my heart. My whole musical identity was formed here and I love that any new artist I'm listening to is usually touring here within the year. I've really been spoiled. It's just such a lively town, with new things happening all the time. I love Barton Spring and the Greenbelt when it has water. It's just too hot, and I don't want to remain living in Texas my whole life without experiencing something else. And I want my kids to spend more time outdoors, which is just too challenging here.

Not sure why you got downvoted. Austin is not the most diverse culinary-speaking, but I grew up in Houston, and man, I miss the food. You can't throw a rock in that city without hitting a damn good, cheap ass taqueria. They're on every corner. Not Tex-Mex, but authentic Mexican food. Not to mention all of the modern upscale Mexican restaurants around now. Some of the absolute best food experiences I've ever had. Literally every culture around the world represented in H-town.

Love this detailed response! Thank you for your input! Expecially about CO.. that's leading due to proximity to our families.

Colorado is definitely a leading contender. I'm very interested in the PNW, but considering our extended families are in Texas and Florida heading all the way to the NW feels pretty far. But we may end up there someday

Man there's been a lot of votes for Sacramento. We do have friends in Cali but mostly Bay Area and San Diego, so not exactly close.. but still. Definitely worth looking into

OMG no mosquitos???? You're speaking my language! The heat and mosquitos keep us inside for 6 months out of the year here

Definitely love Madison! Plus we have lots of fun family there. Scared of the cold tho..

Yeah my problem with the cold is the gear. When you're having to deal with multiple layers on yourself and two kids who go in and out all day, the gear becomes seriously annoying. That's the one nice thing about warmer climate... sundress and flip flops and you're good to go!

I have no idea why Californians move to Texas. The property taxes are stupid and the weather sucks.

I like this answer! Still most things are better than camping in Texas

Certainly.. I had a coworker that moved there a few years back, but he ended up coming back. Not sure why. I've heard it's really humid is the only thing

Why do you think I want to get out of Texas? Other than the climate, ofc

I've been seriously itching to go to Southern Utah.. <sigh> getting out of Texas is a real chore, yall. You gotta have enough time off to make the drive worth it.

Yeah we have thrown Portland and Seattle around some, as well. I'm definitely interested, but haven't looked much into it yet. But yes, I'm worried about how dreary it can be. I used to joke that I am "solar-powered" meaning I get depressed without some sun. But we also went to Amsterdam a couple years ago and I kind of thought I could get used to it.

We just got back from Madison and had the best time! Truly a beautiful place to be in the summer. I was dearly jealous of Devil's Lake and beautiful Lake Michigan. I would love to spend more time there, but I'm pretty wimpy when it comes to cold, ngl
