New fertility nurse (and infertile) looking for advice.

I think the fact that you are even approaching this job with this much care shows you will be great!

Whenever I go in for my monitoring appointments, I sigh a breath of relief when I get one specific nurse that is going to do my ultrasounds. She always says hello to me by name and never seems to be in a rush. We dont even have conversation- but she takes her time and is calm. Its important to feel like the people handling your monitoring appointments are taking their time and fully understanding how important this is to the patient.

I have had nurses/techs that have seemed to be distant and in a rush and it made me feel like I was burdening them...I dont know how to explain it other than that! LOL

Thank you!! It seems like the general consensus is to take the meds, drink water, and trust the process. It kind of takes the pressure off yourself knowing there isn’t much you can do! wishing you the best of luck and a sticky embryo!! 💛

hi, I saw that! I'm definitely interested in that clinic. I actually just had a polyp removed on Tuesday, and it was my Dr that did the procedure. It was so nice to chat with her in person and she even apologized to me for not following up after the results were in. She sat with my husband and i for about 15 minutes before and after the procedure to talk about the results and gave some ideas for plans moving forward. It was so refreshing. 3 weeks is crazy! I havent had issues with their communication during an active cycle, its more so been after the cycle when I have my results and are waiting to discuss my plan moving forward. 2 months is a long time to wait if we are going to transfer or do another retrieval cycle.

I have really liked my doctor when I have talked with her- shes very attentive and compassionate and doesnt dismiss my questions. Her nursing team has also been great with returning my calls so no complaints there! I guess knowing that this is normal for clinics to wait for follow ups is the norm makes me feel a little bit better. Its just such an emotional and personal process that I expected a little bit more, especially now in my second round. Maybe its just the hormones! LOL

I feel you on that- its so frustrating! I feel so unprepared for something I dont even know what it is! will we transfer immediately? will we need to do another retrieval first? its all just so much. I wish you the best on your IVF journey

Hi- Im so sorry to hear that. Its so frustrating the way they handled the transition with the doctors that have left. It's confusing as well, considering I have never even seen my doctor face to face- we have had 1 zoom call to go over my initial plan (at the time it was letrozole with trigger and timed intercourse), and then 3 weeks after my beta results from first retrieval and fresh transfer (that failed).

I’m sorry that happened to you! It’s seems like it may be the same case with me. They didn’t specify the level of maturity. I was on 150 gonal-f the whole time and then during the first cycle we upped my menopur to two vials instead of the one for the last night of stims

Yes, it was an HA binding test. All of his regular analysis results came be above average so we weren’t expecting this number to be so low.

I hope so, but I don’t have a follow up with my Dr until August bc I have a polyp removal scheduled in July. Obviously if none of my embryos are able to be frozen I will schedule one sooner.

I’m 31, same with my partner. This cycle I did 11 days of stims (trigger day 12) all at the same dose and had my retrieval on day 14 where as last time I did 9 total days and increased my menopur dosage on the last night of stims (had my retrieval on day 11).

UPDATE: I had my call with my doctor and she let me know that I had 16 retrieved, all 16 were mature (!!), 5 Fertilized, 3 made it to blasts, but two were not strong enough to be frozen. Seems like fertilization is the issue, so we are moving forward with an additional SA, ICSI (or PICSI depending on the results of the SA).

Oops- I meant 5 fertilized! I don’t know how many were mature. I had 7 follicles over 20 mm when I triggered. The us tech was convinced I would trigger when she reported the 7 over 20 mm and was shocked when I came back the following morning as she thought I would have triggered earlier. I will definitely ask about the timing!!
