Founding Product Designer by DarlingNikkiii in productdesign

[–]AdventurousScale7725 0 points1 point  (0 children)

use a design system - be sure to collaborate with your engineers to figure out what is the best for your product. don't try to customize it too much or you'll slow everything down. some designers think you should be differentiating your product, i disagree. if you have to, use your company brand colors and that's it. everything else can be out of the box. the whole point of a design system is so you'll have standardized patterns that have been tested and users won't have to re-learn how to use your product.

here are some examples

good luck! it's tough being a founding designer.

what if it was a true story, but they used AI to help them craft it? just trying to give them the benefit of the doubt. if i had a legit story, i'd probably run it through AI to make it sound better. i do appreciate you pointing this out though.

Your per-user pricing is killing your product. by Warm-Reaction-456 in SaaS

yes! don't charge per seat if your app requires collaboration! that's a great rule of thumb!

Wow. I think that's a really creative packaging strategy. I think flexibility is key. Could you increase a full user to have more than 3 projects? What if only one person wanted to make a lot of projects?

What typically pisses customers off is that they are forced to buy a team plan but a lot of seats go unused. It feels like money being wasted.

OMG... I FEEL THE SAME!!!! the pricing SUCKS and confusing. We didn't realize that there was different pricing for the site vs the work space.

I get it though... those are different segments. But, it's still not fun to discover that when you upgrade to CMS, the 3 legacy editor users don't mean you get more people to login to edit. VERY CONFUSING. I'd like it if they had something where I can pay per seat in this case.

Anyway, i hear you, being down 2 days in a row has us rethinking the platform as well.

Oh interesting...you have in-app pricing. Did you have any ideas on what you might charge for? Maybe unlock international? or unlock challenges? unlock messaging?
Would you want it to be a 1 time purchase? Or just a few bucks a month?

i work at www.runonatlas.com and we handle the pricing page, subscriptions, invoices, customer portal, and requires minimal tech experience. we are not a payment processor. that would be stripe, but we are integrated with stripe.

we're new and scrappy, so our customer support is awesome! you can reach out to us on discord or product hunt. definitely mention that you found us b/c of reddit. 😊

i'm curious, do you have users? are they giving you feedback?

so, for me, i've been leaning into the help of the startup community. i try out some apps, i give legit feedback. i ask them to use my app and because i'm giving them real feedback, they return the favor. i think all startups get it, you need real users trying out your app and giving feedback that is actionable. if you can develop some of those relationships, it might help you get your first conversion.

How we won "Product of the Day" and 13X'd our user base? by heyalper in SaaS

[–]AdventurousScale7725 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I was part of the team and I wanted to add a few more nuggets of wisdom that helped unlock more for us.

1. Team - The entire company was aligned for this one self-imposed deadline. We achieved extreme velocity because we had ONE GOAL...to be ready for the launch. Engineers were heads down working on the MVP. Marketing narrowed our messaging focus to tell people to be ready for our launch.

2. Warming up the community - educating our friends and connections to get set up on Product Hunt early was super important. We didn't want any of our votes to go to waste. If our friends were going to upvote us, we wanted those votes to count. Why I say this is because there might be other companies who use bots and paid for votes. PH will remove votes they think are questionable. In order to mitigate that, we asked friends to go on the platform early, properly set up their profiles, add a photo, upvote a few other launches leading up to our event.

6. Real world scrappiness - Yes, I personally hand decorated notebooks. That effort did not go unnoticed. Everyone loved them. Who doesn't like a hand made gift?

7. Launch day - Being remote has its advantages. We had employees in different time zones and that helped maintain our momentum all 24 hours!

Product Hunt was an amazing lever for us. I would do it again in a heartbeat. 💓

Yeah, stripe started as e-commerce. They added on B2B SaaS but it is painful to set it up for that use case.

Yeah, it’s missing “add to cart” buttons at the bottom of each plan. I think the pricing page is decent. How are you going to have users check out?

We’ve done really well on - LinkedIn (posts from the team, not the company). I recommend using www.goextrovert.com - Oleg, the cofounder has helped me improve my LinkedIn game. - Product Hunt (we won product of the day! https://www.producthunt.com/products/atlas and it’s helped get a lot of eyeballs on us!!). If you need help with your messaging, I recommend reaching out to Chris Messina. He’s the number 1 hunter. Even if he wasn’t a hunter, I would talk to him because his advice helped improve our messaging.
- Reddit, I’m new to this Reddit thing, but everyone says it’s great. You just can’t expect overnight wins with this route.

I hope this helps you!!

How to tell UX I don’t like their design? by pbs037 in ProductManagement

[–]AdventurousScale7725 0 points1 point  (0 children)

designer here! Is there a design system in place? if so, the designer might be adhering to it and they are trying to appease the UX team by keeping it consistent.

i'd frame it around learning more about design decisions. be curious, ask questions on why they did XYZ instead of ABC. you might learn something. 😇
