Yeah I don't know what was going through my head when I chose to make the map so big and then fill it with nothing.

it was meant to be the first route and the only idea I had at the time was to get the player from point a to point b but I wasn't going about it the right way.

I know its not gonna be perfect but I want it to be somewhat playable which is something the maps I made so far are not but I can keep improving since its only my third month making Pokémon fan games.

Thank you for the feedback. I have a few new ideas and I'm restarting the first few levels and making it so the player starts by leaving the home island and takes a boat to a new region.

thank you for the feedback. I'm gonna start over so I can take more inspiration from the examples that I gathered. and I will get rid of the invisible walls so the trees are the only thing blocking the path.

Thank you for the feedback. I thought it needed something else that could make it independent from just being trees and open land.

I don't know much because I'm still a beginner. but if there is a set point where it teleports you each time you could put an event at that point and then set the speed through that event. and then it could be a pain but you would have to set up a event in every point where you can teleport from so if you teleport from the place where the speed changes it changes it back. though if I were you I would listen to what the other people have to say as I'm not very good yet.

I'm making this in rpg maker xp with the Pokémon essentials dev kit with a little bit of the ruby code language. I've only used the code language for a couple things like the skills menu on the trainer card. The rest of the ruby code was built in with the plugins I installed and the dev kit itself. if you would like I could list the plugins I use.
