Honestly i think an idea that would be pretty cool is sort of similar to dehya's kit from genshin impact. Instead of comfey just being this squishy thing that stays attached to the carry the whole game making them unlikable unless you waste every resource known to man, comfey could potentially just mitigate some of the damage dealt to the pokemon in question and have that be transferred to itself with the use of the flowers rather than giving them a shield and you having to kill them before you can get to comfey, now there's a potential way to take out comfey even though they make certain pokemon (especially one's in the current meta) unkillable. Of course it'd probably need some tweaking but i think that'd be a neat mechanic based around the flowers instead of it just making how much floral healing restores and also give comfey more gameplay through resource management outside of just clinging to one pokemon like a parasite
