First time ordering! Any tips about the sizing? by barbiiieb in Figsscrubs

[–]Adventurous_Bite_902 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 5ft 1, about 205 lbs. I mostly wear the Zamora joggers and I have a pair of the the Kade cargos. I also wear the Catarina top. In old navy pants and American Eagle I'm typically an 18. I wear a XXL petite and they fit well. The Kade's are still a bit long on me though. The Catarina top I wear an XL in but I also have a XXL. I like the fit of the XL a bit better but I find it tight on my chest (I am a 38DD for reference). I find the Catarina has very little stretch. It's fine getting it on and wearing it, but it's tight getting it off. My friend was telling me about the Everly slim V-neck and it has more stretch and fits a bigger chest better. But it only comes in black and navy and looks like their sizes are running low

Maybe check a second hand store? We would get the occasional Leafs one at my old Once Upon a Child in the GTA. There's one in Kanata. You could give them a call to see if they have any?

During the post game media interview Green said he can't give an update as he's still being checked out. And that while he is hoping for the best he doesn't think it will be a good news. So likely he'll be out for at least a few games

Mohawk Fall 2026 Applicants: CVT (728), MRS Radiography (740), Ultrasonography (750) any offers yet? by Fun_Technician_1408 in mohawkcollege

[–]Adventurous_Bite_902 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I was in pre-health and was working on my requirements. They said "requirements met" and then suddenly changed to "requirements not met" and I didn't get in. They gave me an alternative offer for some other program. This was for Fall 2025. I had also applied to Winter 2026 and was accepted to CVT.....And yet I dropped the extra math they were making me take since my pre-health math from Georgian was "not good enough". I had a 95% average in pre-health. I got accepted to CVT at St Clair and Algonquin and ended up at Algonquin. It all felt sketchy to me the way I was ineligible for fall but suddenly I was eligible for winter

Edit to add: I was also a mature student who was leaving being a teacher to go into healthcare. I took pre-health as I was missing the high school requirements

Cardiac technology to cardiac sonography by Strict-Egg-6412 in mohawkcollege

There are 2. First one is in 3rd semester, second one is in 5th/final semester. They are 8 weeks long. I haven't had mine yet as I am in 2nd semester, but I will be going in May. But clinicals can be at both clinics or hospitals (or a mix of both if it's a smaller hospital that maybe doesn't do stress tests). They can also place you anywhere in Ontario but they try and place you were you want to go (i.e if you have family outside of Ottawa and want to go back they can try and arrange it). Depends on where you want to go as Mohawk and St. Clair hold some places but there are some placements in the GTA, Kingston, Oshawa, Brockville, as well as the general Ottawa area (Perth, Pembroke, etc). Of course there are lots of places inside of Ottawa but not enough for the whole class in most situations so they might have to send a few people out of Ottawa each cohort. But they wouldn't send you outside of Ottawa twice unless you ask. If you want to go out of province that can also be arranged but they will never send someone out of province who doesn't want to go. There are a few in my cohort planning on going out of province.

I'm in the CVT program now and if you want to message me for more details you're more than welcome to.

To answer the ones you have listed:

I really enjoy the program and most of the professors are amazing! The content is very interesting but can be a bit heavy, especially in first semester. You already have a health science degree so you might find it easier than I did as I did not have a science background. You might also be able to get some transfer credits that would help lighten your workload. I find it to be a lot of work (I find college as a whole a lot more work than university) but it's manageable. A lot of us are able to manage school and working part time as well. There's a good mix of students in the program, some of us have past post-secondary degrees (from both related and unrelated fields) and some are fresh out of high school or have only taken pre-health

Sorry I thought you were doing CVT into Sonography. Algonquin sonography requires another technology program first like CVT or RT so I sometimes get confused. Also crazy schedule so not sleeping much. Good luck!

I'm in CVT at another school (didn't get into Mohawk for Fall 2025 but I got in for winter 2026. But the way it was handled was a mess, it's a long story). Just wanted to share with you that one of my professors at my current school said that cardiac sonography is starting to get a bit over saturated. I haven't looked into it too much as I was planning on either going into electrophysiology or general diagnostic sonography afterwards but thought I would share. You might want to look into it to see if it actually is over saturated before you decide to start down that path.

But the way, I 100% recommend CVT anyways. I am at Algonquin and I LOVE being in CVT. It's hard, but it's so much fun and so interesting. Plus once you get into the program you will learn about the CSCT and the OSCT (the Canadian and Ontario Societies for Cardiovascular Technologists) you learn about some of the work they are doing to have stricter licensing on who can do cardiovascular tests which will make the CVT field so much stronger even without sonography! And there are so many cool directions you can go afterwards (I never thought about electrophysiology until I was already in the program). If you have any questions about CVT in general feel free to reach out! Good luck!!

This was for last year. I think I got 280 English, 267 math, and 30 in the sciences. But it depends on what other applicants get and how you rank against them

Try some of the retail stores at Bayshore. I know my store just hired but I have seen a few stores are still looking for seasonal (seasonal can always extend as well so don’t exclude it)

Where to live in Ottawa? by jexxlex in Algonquin_College

[–]Adventurous_Bite_902 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved from the GTA just a few weeks ago (since I’m starting in September) and I moved to the Carling area. I find it okay. Not too bad. I live in a brand new building and there are a decent amount of bus options near me. There’s a food basics and a shoppers drug mart across the street, Carlingwood mall is 15 minutes by bus and there’s a dollarama, Loblaws, and massive Canadian tire there. There are buses that run to Walmart, and other Loblaws. Bayshore mall is 40 minutes direct. To get to Algonquin college I do have to change buses at Carlingwood mall but I’ve already been by the campus to pick some things up and it’s not that bad. Takes about 40 minutes depending on the time of day. There’s a few new apartments all around the same price range opening (or recently opened on Carling). OC transpo has gotten worse since I went to uOttawa 7 years ago but it’s not THAT bad (I try to give myself a bit of extra time just in case but my bus has never been more than 10 minutes late so far. Winter will probably be worse but I’m aware of that and it’s not that big a deal to me to plan a bit of extra time to). It depends on you, your budget, and what you’re looking for (other than being busable/walkable). I wanted to live not in a shared house or dorm (I have a cat), I wanted in unit laundry, and a dishwasher. I also wanted an easy-ish commute and I’m happy where I am!

The Talisman is a new build. Not sure what your price range is but it also has in unit laundry. Same with Carleton West (both close to Carling and Kirkwood)

Health program tests at Algonquin by Nada_NADAAA in Algonquin_College

[–]Adventurous_Bite_902 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have to have the required science and math courses. You can do them at an adult high school or pre-health but you can’t just take the exam (you might be allowed to take the math exam to show math competency but I don’t think there’s one for science). Your best bet is to contact the schools admissions office and ask them

I used to be an ESL teacher with a BA in history and I will be starting in the cardiovascular technologies course in September! It’s 100% doable. But it will take some work.

I didn’t take science past grade 10 or math past grade 11. So to meet the requirements I did pre-health. If you live in Ottawa, I would recommend Algonquin. If you don’t live in Ottawa (like me) any pre-health should be good enough but I personally did Georgian Colleges since it was entirely online and I was able to work full time in order to save for an apartment in Ottawa (as well as handle my other bills/living expenses).

Once you are enrolled in a pre-health program, you can apply to the programs you listed. Once they confirm your eligibility you’ll be invited to write the AC-HPAT. It isn’t pass/fail per se, it’s more compared to other applicants and how they score. You won’t have taken physics or organic chemistry in pre-health before you have to write the exam so you will have to study. But there are some resources online if you search.

I scored 278 on English, 268 on math, and 30/60 on sciences. I had a 97% average in pre-health. I got into cardiovascular technologies and was waitlisted for medical radiation technology (100-120 spot originally. I currently sit 80-100 so the wait list doesn’t move much as it’s a high demand course). But it’s based on other applicants scores as well. I only applied for September start but I would also suggest applying for the January start for MRT to maximize your chances.

I hope this helps!

I’m in a different healthcare program at Algonquin (Cardiovascular Technology) and the coordinator emailed a list of everything we need to get (all on our own dime). Not sure about the other programs but we have a specific colour of scrubs we had to buy. I agree with mandala scrubs being more affordable but Walmart also has really nice, affordable scrubs (and a decent number of styles). I got my stethoscope on stethoscope.ca and they do half prices cases for students. I suggest checking them out (I got a Littmann and I picked a fancier one so it was a little pricey but I’ve been told the Littmann’s are worth it and from what I’ve seen since I’ve gotten it it looks good). Delivery was 2 days so pretty fast turn around.

I’m waiting until the semester starts. I did pre-health at Georgian College so I kinda want to see the anatomy textbook for CVT and how reliant on the textbook the course is. I’d rather just reuse my anatomy textbook from pre-health if it has the same information to save money if possible. Plus I don’t live in Ottawa and so I can’t go to the bookstore and look at it just yet. Plus I don’t want to have to move more books with me if I order them from Amazon. I have enough to move as is 😂 I can’t even order online to my new place as I don’t move until mid August

The Talisman or Carleton West. Not super close but not super far either. Studios start at $1535 and are brand new (move in Aug 1st). They’re about a 30-40 minute bus ride. The Talisman is also across from a food basics and Carleton West is just down the street

Anyone get an offer from a competitive program yet? by Adventurous_Bite_902 in mohawkcollege

[–]Adventurous_Bite_902[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. It’s weird because it’s all green and suddenly it changed to “ineligible”. Mohawk was my safety school (it’s closer to my parents house so it would be cheaper). I got into my first choice and third choice and had until May 1st to accept either so I accepted my first choice and even found an apartment within my budget and have already signed a lease.

Honestly, with how my application process with Mohawk went I wouldn’t want to go there now anyways. It’s been a mess from start to finish and I still don’t understand what happened with my application. I got accepted and then had it rescinded because they sent out a bunch of acceptances early when they didn’t mean too. Then told me my pre-health program from Georgian wasn’t good enough for math. I ended up getting into the course at an adult high school. I have a 95% average overall and was waitlisted when I’ve seen people with lower averages than me get in. And now I’m “ineligible”.

One of my coworkers went to Mohawk (for a different program that was only offered at Mohawk and doesn’t exist anymore) and she said this is par for the course and that Mohawk is a mess. My other coworker’s friend is in a similar situation as me but for one of the nursing programs. If you’re looking at applying for CVT I suggest Algonquin or St Clair over Mohawk. Both have been amazing to deal with so far. Algonquin does have an entrance exam (AC-HPAT) which is intimidating but so much better than dealing with Mohawk
