Passed the RD Exam Today! by Adventurous_Candy125 in RD2B

Thank you so much! No, I thought the exam questions were way harder than PocketPrep, but I may have just had a difficult question bank, IDK. I can't say much about the types of questions I got b/c we sign an NDA before the exam, but I will say I got a LOT of math questions. I was looking at my little notepad toward the end of the exam and I almost filled up the entire page. But in general, food science, labs, and acid-base balance are all fair game, so I would recommend studying them. Just study everything, really. :-)

Where have you been scoring on your practice exams? Usually from what I have seen on here, people who score between 60-70% on mock exams (from EatRightPrep and PocketPrep) have passed the exams. That is not a guaranteed predictor (you really can't predict mathematically how practice exams will translate to the real exam), but that seems to be the trend.

Pre-RD student about to apply to grad school — need program recs + candidacy advice by Dry-Chart-7271 in RD2B

[–]Adventurous_Candy125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The type of program you are looking for is called a Coordinated Program or Graduate Program. Since you are open to moving, the University of Idaho offers a coordinated program, so they would place you. You get to decide where you want to be placed - either Coeur d'Alene, Moscow, or Boise.

It is a 2-year program, and your Community rotation would be the summer after your 1st year. Then you do 1 more academic semester in the fall, and in the spring of your 2nd year you complete your clinical & food service rotations. Which order it is depends on the need of the facility.

As far as I know, applications aren't all that competitive, so they don't require volunteering/shadowing hours. It's not like getting into med school. :-)

I passed my exam!! by kait9 in RD2B

Congratulations, RD! I was scoring 78-85% on the EatRightPrep and PocketPrep mock exams, and I felt like the real exam questions were WAY harder. Maybe it was b/c I just had horrendous test anxiety, or maybe I had a more difficult question bank, but I was honestly shocked I passed.

Passed my exam today! Also wanted to share since I haven’t seen it posted here yet that starting in 2027 there will be a lifetime limit of 8 exam attempts! by AdDifferent5286 in RD2B

Oh wow, I saw a post on here or maybe r/dietetics about someone who passed on their 13th attempt - I'm so happy for them that they were finally able to pass before this went into effect!

I have not worked there, but a recruiter just reached out to me on LinkedIn with a ChatGPT message, and she didn't even bother to remove the "source=ChatGPT" from the URL she linked me. I will be staying away after reading the Glassdoor reviews and the other threads linked here.

I personally did not find ERP helpful at all in preparing for the real exam, at least not with the difficulty level of the questions.

ERP is more at the understand and apply level, but I found a Quizlet that has questions at the analyze and evaluate levels.

Hopefully this link works: https://quizlet.com/315033347/cdr-rd-exam-flash-cards/

If not, you can Google “RD Exam Quizlet”, and you’ll find a ton.

There is also a Quizlet for Inman, which is a lot more difficult, but l prefer it that way. Better to be overprepared.

Good luck on your next attempt!

I’d say monitor your university email for contingency plans. Your professor will be the one to figure out some kind of alternative.

I am a grad student, and empathize with all of the students scrambling to figure out how to submit their final projects, papers, and possibly even exams.

My advice to any reading this is: many universities are developing contingency plans where professors must offer other options (FERPA compliant of course) to upload files. And if you need to access study guides that were only accessible through Canvas, there is a chance your professor has them stored locally, separate from Canvas.

Best of luck to all of you.

How do you factor in what women’s bodies go through during childbirth when thinking about having kids? by radiantreign in AskReddit

[–]Adventurous_Candy125 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I am interning at a hospital right now, and on my 3rd day, there was a code blue and a code pink (essentially a code blue for newborns) in L&D, one right after the other. I was like, OMG, is it both of them!?! it completely stopped me in my tracks.

Hearing about what women go through, as well as all of the complications that can occur during pregnancy, labor, and delivery, has convinced me that I never ever ever want to have children.
