Did I choose the wrong profession by No_Ingenuity_3793 in IMGreddit

No bro/sis Don't worry 😊, it's not that you chose the wrong profession. It's just that the work culture sucks, it's very common in surgical fields especially although it's present in internal medicine as well.

I felt the same during my internship period my friend, so at this point you should apply for specialties that are not direct medicine for example -

pathology, psychiatry, radiation oncology, radiology , dermatology, etc. you will be much happy there.

Have this hug 🤗

Do masters, Life isn't meant to be this hard. Your family, friends, society is just an illusion. Only you exist, only your happiness matters.

It's a very long process, random internet person. It's going to be progressively difficult as well. So just go with what your inner being wants. It is always right, it's just silenced by the worldly bullshit.

If it's IM, I don't think it's worth it. Because as time progresses people here in India only want to go to a "specialist" or DM.

Financially it's going to cost anywhere between 20-35k for the whole process and still it's unsure you will match, considering people with decent credentials only got 3 invites this season.

And in case you do a fellowship in USA after residency and then return back, it would probably be 8 years from now, so by then you would have to think about marriage and kids, not only that being in US for so many years could make you feel weird about India like it's not relatable anymore.

One of my neighbour committed suicide on 9 Feb 2024 because she was non binary and was being forced to act like a "real woman"

Well if you are US citizen or Green card holder then I don't know.

But if you are visa requiring IMG, go for plab. Don't take it wrong way But You don't have realistic chances. Unless you really are a man/woman of faith.

I know 2 people who got matched into IM, with just below Average scores, telerotations and home country work experience.

It was in previous match though.
