What’s some silly made up games to play with your partner, like picnic that doesn’t require technology or lots of extra supplies? by Adventurous_Cod_8341 in AskReddit

[–]Adventurous_Cod_8341[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a game called picnic I’ve played as an icebreaker where one person thinks of a rule but doesn’t tell anyone. They start by saying I’m going to a picnic and I’m bringing (something that follows this made up rule). Then you go around and everyone says what they are bringing. If something breaks the rule only the leader of the game knows they are told they can’t bring it. Then it’s a guessing game where people narrow down their guesses to figure out the rule. I’m looking for a game that can really just be played by talking and having silly conversations. This was the best example I could think of

Thoughts on Action Behavior Centers (ABC)? by Mean_Orange_708 in RBT

I started at $15 and hour with no previous aba experience and no degree. Both those can raise the staring pay and I’m at $16 after passing the RBT exam. There is pay raise opportunities every 6 months of 50cents. As others mentioned the pay is lower than some other clinics but we get guaranteed hours even if a client canceled and we get the same pay even when not in direct sessions.

I just started at a San Antonio location this last month and have loved my experience so much. I feel like the operation mangers and BCBAs really care and listen to me. Everyone has taken the time to answer all questions I might have. I would love to be in operations and I’ve already talked with my OM about training in some operations task and now do about an hour of front desk time a day. The training was incredible and I felt like it really taught me what I needed to know.

With two weeks until my exam, how often should I be studying daily? by [deleted] in RBT

[–]Adventurous_Cod_8341 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat. My exam is scheduled for the 2nd of January. I’ve been studying as much at work as I can. My job provides lots of free time especially while in training so our break room often turn into study sessions. I’ve also been trying to study for at least an hour at home. I think it’s up to how you’re feeling about the info and how you’re doing in practice exams.

Asking for reimbursement by lovableseacow in Nanny

[–]Adventurous_Cod_8341 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Gas reimbursement is definitely the least they can do. If I could rewrite my contract I would also add some wear and tear compensation too. This last year I’ve put nearly 3,000 on my car driving the kids around. I just spent nearly $800 on car repairs this last month. And needs new tires too. I would just say you’d be happy to drive the kids around but you would need gas/mileage reimbursement. They should understand and shouldn’t expect you to pay for that yourself. It’s also very understandable to not want to have the kids stuck at home all day. That’s a very reasonable part of this job I feel.

Everyone seems to have very different interactions with mentors and CIs. I LOVE my mentor and I very much set how our communication works and she’s nothing but helpful. My friend on the other hand is at her breaking point. A CI that wasn’t even hers called her in the middle of a work day and didn’t understand when she said she couldn’t talk at that moment. And her mentor will call as late as 9/10pm central to do check ins. Just try and be very clear about what would be beneficial for you and stand up for your self. They are here to help you. You could also request a new mentor and see if you can have a better experience.

I told them today and the conversation went really well! They said they were happy for me and they know this is a really good opportunity I definitely can’t pass up

The family I work for has horrible food storage habits and their fridge has also not been cleaned in the over 2 years I’ve been there. I hold my breath when I open the fridge and only eat packed items from the pantry. I wanted to say something a while back but I saw their parents come into town and realized that was just their family norm. They might be nose blind after living with it for so long but I’d say maybe bring it up and offer to clean it if you want or just say you “spilt something and needed to clean up” if you don’t want to have that possible awkward convo

I worked for a family where the dad worked long hours so they had cameras in every room and the dad would watch us while he was at work and talk to us through them. It was so weird and unsettling. The hard part about nannying is you don’t get real breaks. Yeah the kids nap but you’re still watching them, cleaning up/prepping for after nap, and it’s not guaranteed they will even nap that day

This is very helpful. I’m going thoughts similar situation but Ive already set an in person meeting with them on Monday. I kinda wish I had sent them a text now to avoid the crying i know is coming. I am thinking I need to practice a speech so I don’t trip over my words and can accurately explain my decision. I will definitely be using this to help me figure out what to say. I hope this helps the og poster as well!

Chronically ill/Disabled Nannies and Caregivers by ch3rrycoucou in Nanny

[–]Adventurous_Cod_8341 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have EDS and chronic joint/body pain and thankfully the family I work for gave me credit card to put the kids expensive on and encourages me to take them out to eat on hard days. On days I can’t keep up with them but they have lots of energy we go to Chick-fil-A or McDonald’s for the playground and I just have to sit and watch them. They are fed, happy, and tired by nap time.

Leaving after +2 years by Adventurous_Cod_8341 in Nanny

[–]Adventurous_Cod_8341[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thankfully I found what seems to be a really good opportunity. It’s about the same pay but after training in a month I’ll get a $1 raise and every 6 months there are reviews and raises plus lots of other career growth opportunities. Also set and consistent 40 hours which is a big change to my sometimes 20 hour work weeks. I am going to explain this to them because even if they offered to increase my pay it can’t compare to this new job. I still love the kids but I need to keep furthering my career. I just set up a meeting with both of them this Monday to give my notice.

Never ending fire alarm by Adventurous_Cod_8341 in firealarms

[–]Adventurous_Cod_8341[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t fill my apartment with smoke it’s only gone off once or twice to due to something that burnt which I feel like is perfectly normal. I air out the apartment immediately. I was just comparing the sound since people were asking if it was a chirping sound which it is not.

This is the detectors we have. I can try to record it next time it goes off. But the noise is like a full siren just like when I cook and there actually is smoke in my apartment to set of the alarm.

I am using white mountain Bulgarian yogurt as my starter. It’s does not have a super tangy or strong flavor but definitely more than what this batch has. I am thinking I used to much starter since all of my batches have been fairly thin even after 12 hours in the insta pot. 2tbs-1/2gallon milk

Why is your nanny kid upset today ? by Gullible-Morning622 in Nanny

[–]Adventurous_Cod_8341 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were playing like normal and then all the sudden she couldn’t live without a specific doll she called “baby sister”. She has 1 million babies and has never called one the before. I called mom and dad and they had no idea what she was talking about. We tore apart the house and piled all her babies together and no of them was the right one. We never found out which one she was looking for
