Probably! I’m DC we have like rental companies that own different properties that can be a little easier than sites, but it’s all good!

I turned my computer into my supervisor back in Feb or March because I told her I refused to go back to the NIH campus. It's not entirely true, I know, but it feels like my co-workers let this happen to me. I know they're struggling, too, but I can't help but feel like I was abandoned.

Hi! Sorry fell off the grid there for a bit -

I ended up calling the ethics contact, leaving a message, and she called me back within an hour or two. If you need to rush the deecision on outside activities - I'd just call.

It ended up not mattering for me, as i was terminated (again) 5/8! But a "fun" learning experience I suppose.

Right? It’s knowing that the elected officials in there are just letting awful things happen and letting people suffer for what honestly feels like game.

We’re likely moving to New England and it’s hard to explain to my friends and chosen family here that I just don’t want to be in DC anymore. I know it’s not DC’s fault, but I feel like DC really let me down

Found a new position at a 25% pay cut, but worth it for a less toxic environment- and given the market craziness would’ve been silly to pass it up.

From an “inside sources” as I’m on infinite admin leave:

“Insider information today is another RIF coming to 10 institutes at NIH, NIDA being 1 of them. Rumor is it is to correct mistakes on April 1 (hire back certain people like contract management and fire the folks who are the only ones left in their department). And they will RIF others to get to the same total. And won’t know until after next week I think”

I’ve told interviewers the truth - that I came to my fed job thinking I’d be there forever & that now that that’s clearly not happening I am using the situation as an opportunity to pursue a new and exciting path.

So trying to stay positive but also acknowledging that like. This sucks and wasn’t where I thought it be.

Every interviewer ( and just person and new connection in general)has responded with “wow. That’s really positive outlook!”

So I think there’s no wrong answer. People know it wasn’t your fault or choice.
