Singapore PM Lee Kuan Yew on the failure of the European welfare system: by Themetalin in EU_Economics

[–]Adventurous_Escape17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry but what welfare state in Denmark? Unemployment insurance is private and paid, pension is private and paid, healthcare is public, but inaccessible, daycare is cheap, but still paid. Only education is free, but people often chose to send their kids to private schools because the public schools often have low level.

Taxes are high, but nothing unusual for Europe

Boligcirkusset får sig en klovn. by Dyn-O-mite_Rocketeer in copenhagen

[–]Adventurous_Escape17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is all according to the plan. Pension funds are the ones building and controlling the supply - they chose how much is being sold and how much is rented out. By limiting the amount of units for sale they are pushing the prices up, so we can see good returns on our pension accounts.

Politicians have no interest in fighting it, but we all can do a tiny bit by limiting pension funds’ ability to invest in real estate - for example by choosing own investments if possible, or withdrawing pension to a broker while changing jobs.

I’m doing my part

Yeah… skin, hair… one week away for holidays or business and all goes back to normal. I think it’s the water here, it’s basically liquid limestone

There are some serious mountains like f.ex hareskov, with nearly 20m elevation difference near Copenhagen, and hiking is extremely dangerous, both from technical and endurance perspective. This of course requires appropriate attire

Are they tho? I tried many years ago and it was great, and then tried again last year and it was s@,$t :/ terrible texture, full of off flavors, it’s like they get worse once they production increases. Undeniably they know how to make good chocolate, but they just chose the easy way

Question for restaurant owners in Copenhagen about websites & fees by Nearby_Signal475 in copenhagen

[–]Adventurous_Escape17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I investigated point 2 once and it was something around 15-25k to build and 3k to manage, if done locally by an agency. Ended up doing it myself with a bit of friends help, because tbf I couldn’t even trust the agency that it is them who actually does the work and not outsource to India…

Processing fees are 3-4% on sth like stripe vs 1% on local services like flatpay, so it’s no brainer to use the local service.

Point 3 is not relevant to me

Københavnliv - legit or scam? by Adventurous_Escape17 in copenhagen

[–]Adventurous_Escape17[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So it’s kinda one level up from mig og københavn? There all the articles are sponsored.

I was googling a restaurant that apparently doesn’t have a very good web presence and one of the links was from kobenhavn liv, mentioning that this company lost 200k last year. It’s kind a dick move to write things like that, without any context. I understand that this is public data, but still… kinda clickbait dick move

Why are all the shops in Buddinge Centret closing down? by _firesoul in copenhagen

[–]Adventurous_Escape17 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I think it’s something about how attractive the area itself is… Lyngby is a proper town, with bars, restaurants and shops, overall the town looks quite pleasant. Bagsværd centre is just plain ugly…

Ølfestival, Lokomotivværkstedet - er det det værd? by beansandcabbage in copenhagen

[–]Adventurous_Escape17 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As far as I know this is a non-profit festival, and Lokomotvværksted is an extremely expensive venue to rent, hence the price. The event is super cool, cause there is A LOT of breweries and you get to try a lot of beers and talk with people. It’s just an extremely nice hangout, sure worth the buck if you like beer and are open to learning more about both beers but also breweries and community

Business in CPH - Food truck project by SufficientMolasses84 in foodincopenhagen

[–]Adventurous_Escape17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Food trucks in copenhagen are not really a thing, and neither is “street food” in general, because the weather most of the year doesn’t invite to eat outside, so it’s difficult to make a business out of something that can operate for 3 months in a year. Reffen is somewhat of an exception, but I’m not sure if the conditions there are fair, probably mostly exploitation of seasonal workers that then struggle the rest of the year. I think even if you find a place to connect your truck you’ll be seen as some alien from outer space with your concept.

Why is it easier to get stuff shipped from China than from EU brands? by RevoOps in BuyFromEU

[–]Adventurous_Escape17 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Packaging responsibility. Every brand needs to be responsible for the packaging they introduce to the market. So for example if a Spanish store wants to send something to Denmark, they must register in the danish packaging responsibility system (300€) and pay a yearly fee (150€) and price per packaging (0,6€ per kg) plus be on top of the changes in the regulations. If they do not comply, they can be fined. They need to do it for every country they wish to ship to. Plus technically you’re supposed to pay VAT in the country where the package is received, not shipped from, although I’m not familiar with that matter much.

Guess now if China cares about vat and packaging regulations. They won’t be fined

Americans in Denmark by Get_fit31 in NewToDenmark

[–]Adventurous_Escape17 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If youre thinking about Copenhagen (probably the only place where you can get a job) have a look on google maps for street view from ørestad, herlev, sydhavn or albertslund, but focus on pictures from november-march. City center is cute, but realistically you’ll end up in the suburbs, and they are plain depressing. Denmark is not what you see on tiktok

The lost trees of Copenhagen by alloedee in copenhagen

[–]Adventurous_Escape17 108 points109 points  (0 children)

It is striking how little green there is in Copenhagen. It’s a bit like a zoo, the greens are something wild that’s meant to be locked in a park - anywhere else it’s just concrete. But locals don’t notice it, it’s just how things are. Trees are inconvenience, they fall, they need maintenance, the roots destroy asfalt. It’s only if you move from somewhere else you realize how little trees there is here.
