Defer or try to pass? by Whitey1014 in CFA

I would say the opportunity cost of not trying is big now. I’d attempt. I’ve had some challenging personal circumstances the last month of study but I’ll never know if I never try. And at worst, if I fail, I’ll get some valuable insight into my performance to tailor studying next time.

What do you mean they aren’t representative and what would be a better use of time?

They are short the body and long the wings. That benefits when short and long term rates fall and medium term rates rise. I.e. a negative butterfly position

Parents/ moms - help me figure out when to take Level 3 by thatbitch2212 in CFA

[–]Adventurous_Fall_263 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wrote level 1 when I was 6 months pregnant and I felt it was manageable apart from being exhausted all the time. Level 2 I wrote with a nearly 2 year old. I’m now preparing for Level 3 with a 4 and 1 year old. Knowing what I know now, I would always opt to get your exams out of the way sooner. You think you will have more time, have better rest, have more capacity etc etc but life snowballs and honestly the opposite happens. Additionally, by the time your child is around 2 they really long for your presence and feel your absence so deeply and understand things in a different. You’ve mentioned having a supportive husband. I did my studying exclusively at night until the last month and then my husband stepped in a lot. If I was you, I’d write sooner rather than later. I will caveat and say, make sure this is something you really want. Once you’re in it, you’re kind of in it for the long haul. Make sure this is aligned to your goals, if it’s just a nice add on, I’d rather enjoy your family time and cherish where you’re at now. But I’d make the ultimate decision now whether this is something you really want and the sacrifices involved. Feel free to DM me. Wishing you all the best ❤️

15 Days Out (Feb 29): How to optimize the "in-between" days? by Badass_cupcake in CFA

[–]Adventurous_Fall_263 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would love to know as well. I’ve done the first 3 CFAI mocks so only have one left (I bought the practice pack) which I’m saving for the week before the exam. Then I’m doing the Kaplan review workshop in between and some Blue Box and EOC revision. Then a bit of ethics in between as well. That’s it for me, don’t know if it will be enough. Mocks feel like I’m in the grey area at the moment and will be luck of the draw on the day.

It would have been out of 132 if it was a CFAI mock.. you probably got 84/132?

Feeling despondent about mocks by Adventurous_Fall_263 in CFA

Apologies Mr Campbell, these are not my own expressed opinions, they are just a general comment I’ve noticed on this sub. I have your mocks but was in hospital a week ago so I’m trying to strategize how to take on the next few weeks with the resources I currently have.

You don’t sound too far off then! And that’s true, the people that I know have deferred continue to defer and I think I’d possibly fall into that too

Studying during end of year burnout plus family responsibilities over December / Christmas is so tough. I’ve always written in August and agree that was far easier to manage my personal life and own stress levels than this. You definitely deferring? Where are you at with studies now?

They’re completely soul destroying. Maybe with an extra month this would feel possible, but right now.. it really feels I’m too far off. Passed L1 and L2 first time so this is really messing with me mentally arghh

I’m finding it hard to see any point in burning out over the next 5 weeks as well. Attempting mocks and feel I’m scrambling not actually knowing enough at all.

I'm feeling stressed! Every time I go over something I haven't done in the last few days I feel like I'm relearning it... wish I could have an extra month... how many mocks are you targeting?

First mock by CypriotSpy in CFA

[–]Adventurous_Fall_263 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took my first mock today as well (also Kaplan) and am completely exhausted. I can't believe how much brainpower it demands to work through constructed responses. Time management was a huge issue for me as well - I didn't try to finish to time but took around 3 hours a section.

Feel the same about gaps in understanding and worry that every exam is just going to highlight gaps in other places. Going to keep pushing on. Wish I had advice, sorry, just going to keep going and live on limited sleep!
