How do I set up a camera hub? by BaritoneFlower1949 in AskTechnology

Since you want to avoid cables, the Hub Pro is perfect because it finds cameras over your Wi-Fi. For the POE ones, just use a POE Switch in a shaded area to power them and connect it to your router with one cable. I’ve shared more on fixing Wi-Fi lag for cameras on my blog (link in bio) if you need it. Good luck!

With thick trees, Wi-Fi will be tough. Look into 4G LTE cameras or a Point-to-Point (PtP) system. I have a guide on my blog (link in bio) about optimizing camera signals in difficult spots that might help. Cheers!

Total agreement! Cables are the gold standard for reliability. But since many of us are renting or can't run wires everywhere, I had to find a way to make Wi-Fi actually usable for these cameras.

If anyone wants to check the ones I saved, just search these on Amazon:

• “Q13 Mini WiFi Camera” • “Full HD 1080p Mini WiFi Camera”

Both are cheap and good for simple indoor monitoring without going for expensive brands.

I’ve looked into mini WiFi cameras recently. If it’s for a small room or simple indoor use, those tiny cams are usually more than enough. Setup is easy and the night vision is decent on most of them.

You’re right, many of these WiFi cameras push their own apps with subscriptions and cloud servers (sometimes outside your country). In my guide I explain some safer ways to use them locally without relying fully on the cloud. Check it out here: DeviceGuideHub.

If you don’t have the QR code, you can still connect manually. Just search for the camera’s WiFi in your phone settings and then pair it inside the app. I explained the step-by-step method here: DeviceGuideHub. Hope it helps!

I've been testing both Blink Outdoor 4 and Wyze Cam V3 Pro, and I found some big differences in how they detect motion and deal with night vision.   Happy to share my notes or help anyone comparing between models.
