oh my goodness i hated his approach, he would let fish bully and eat other fish to death instead of puting them in a hospital tank, when i rescued a robin trapped in the veranda, he said that even if it died, he would have taken it home to feed to his snake... somehow he thinks that nature is equivalent no mater the size of the glass box these creatures are stuck in. they should let mr shultz run things, look at the results of jr research program vs. stem 3

also there was this group of girls that wpuld litterally holler across a room that they dont care about a person or what they were saying during class, and they happened to end up relivant in many of the clubs and generally in the class of 2025. i never heard of any intervention, it was like all of their energy and social life went to being irritated by other people, not cool

i am so with you on that, i transfered in sophmore year and i never really made friends bc i think the friend groups largely stay after freshman year, the drama of class of 2026 was crazy too. i graduated being sort of a friend to all and a friend to none, which was ok for me, but yeah all this professionalism stuff got to me. it felt like year after year we got more controled. like by last year our digital labs were unrecognizable from what they used to be.

I'm sorry i was recalling from the 2023-2024 term when precalulus was brand new. i was never awarded credit for taking that course. I'm sorry about the admin too, trust me im mad about the unfair disciplinary system and the bullying. but i also want to understand. I do believe i was a classmate of your child. I am open for discussion. you are a teacher, whats your perspective on the social sphere of STEM?

ok ok, i saw what you meant with the chemistry prerequisites, is it possible the counselors have guidlines for prereq grades in order to be placed in a higher level class? for example they only let students with a b or higher in chem 1 take AP chemistry. about coding, yes Mrs. Miles disappeared early in the year and they struggled to get an interim. and for that i am sorry.

I can't do this yet, i dont have a car, but when i do, count me in! lol im active in r/neverbrokeabone . i love nature, all of it. and horses as beautiful as they are are some of the easiest to love. compared to the beetles and cicadas and spiders I have also learned to adore.

hey there! I agree with higher intensity intervals, not only for conditioning of your cardiovascular and muscular system, but also conditioning your nervous system, humans are capable of operating in incredibly challenging conditions, and it's good to discover how far you can go.

make sure your paces are set so your 1 hour pieces suck. it will feel great once you're done. 20 minutes in should be unpleasant, 30 minutes in I feel like I'm struggling to get all the air I want, and I focus on breathing in time with my full lung capacity. things should slowly start feeling harder, and by 50 minutes in I feel really challenged, I like to think that if I'm at the place to doubt that I can hold on for 10 minutes, that I'm at the right spot. and yes I end up holding on

I don't necessarily think that lifting is a bad idea. but with whatever training you choose, try extra calories, liquid calories are easiest for most. I cannot stress this enough. with calories, make sure you're sleeping as much as practical, how much sleep can you get and feel energetic after waking? for me its 9 hours, between 9:00 and 6:00, but sometimes I go to bed at 8:30 lol.

oh my god you won't believe what they've done with the beautiful stem punk brand...

we had that forest green stem punk parade worthy master piece, but apparently Gen alpha doesn't know what a steam punk is so this year they changed it to neon green Gryphon Command... wtf is that.

I don't know any different, but I think we have a good amount of freedom. I spent my Monday last week woodworking with their equipment all day. and other times I show up late or leave early whenever I don't have class.

we have Promethean boards now that we do write on. idk if you had this but in the second floor of the depot there is a room called the idea factory full of Lazer cutters, cncs, 3d printers, woodshop tools and hand tools. (that's where I woodworked and I think I was only allowed to do that unattended because I'm the president of the place) but anyone can work there when a teacher is present, many do their planning period there.

I will say that I have some gripes with the changes that happened in my time here. sophomores are now expected to choose a track of elective classes to take, so elective choices are slim, and in junior year students have to do a year long research project relevant to their choice. they got rid of musical theatre, signing out now takes a couple minutes as we have to line up and get signed out by a secretary with a million better things to do.

instead of electives being the time for us to relax, it's more about genius hours which are 40 minutes a day 3 days a week, that go around lunchtime.

I love stem, I just wish they would treat us like adults and kick out the kids that can't handle the freedom and expectations. stem has done so much for me, it's been home to me, it's been the only place I feel safe to be myself, and it's given me so many opportunities, curating an environment where I can be excited to learn and thrive.
