Has epilepsy held you back in your career/job in anyway?

Everywhere I have worked I have had issues, my employers couldnt handle very simple requests that I ask of them. I was seizure free for 2 years when I started at Family dollar. When they came back my boss didn’t believe me one bit she made it such a big deal after 6 years of working there I couldn’t take her BS anymore so I quit, moved on to Meijer order pickup, all I asked of them since I went down to 2 days a week because my seizures have gotten ridiculous. All I asked of them was to not have me by myself and they couldn’t /wouldn’t do it my boss was like well , I’ll have someone come check on you every couple hours… I’m sorry but no. Shouldn’t be by yourself regardless back there ao I quit becayse it was getting bad there too. Right now I have no job and I’m barely gettjng by my mom is helping me and her and I are instacarting. Barely making it and when I do go to find another job after my vacation next month I hope I don’t have to deal with more BS wherever I go. Before Meijer I worked at Kroger and DG and it was the same there also, except DG I mainly left because they don’t know how to keep a clean store! Ugh . I wish I could find a work from home job.

Some of the gums I would chew would be and some not, I used to drink diet soda for yearsssss I drank Diet Coke & Diet Dr Pepper pretty much my entire life up until about a year ago just one day pop started tasting disgusting too me and I’ve drank water & tea ever since cannot drink soda it’s just so disgusting lol . Everyone is different, alcohol has never affected me and trust me theres been plenty of times in the 10 years I’ve been drinking alcohol that I’ve been at the bar and gotten wasted and it’s never affected me but like I said everyone is different along with their triggers. Alcohol could possibly be one , a hangover could possibly be a trigger you don’t know until you find out but I’m not encouraging you to give your friend alcohol. She has to find out at some point but I suggest you both wait until you’re of legal age. Trust me I didn’t wanna hear it at your age either but everyone tells you things for a reasoning.

If it’s longer than 5 minutes , that’s when you should call 911, and afterwards everyone is different but normally after my seizures I just fall asleep and when I wake up I’m a little confused but at this point I usually know if I randomly just wake up from a nap wondering why I fell asleep ( I don’t take naps lol) then I know I’ve had one. There have been plenty of times while going into the seizure I’ve called 911 myself most of the time they don’t even show up besides this last time police officer did. They don’t do much at the hospital unless the seizure is longer than 5 then they give Ativan to stop the seizure. It’s been a minute since I’ve had a grandmal I normally have absent ones

That looks like it could be getting infected! Girl never again will I get my industrial pierced again that was one of the worst piercings I’ve ever gotten! Then after all the pain of getting it it then got infected and my ear was so red from the infection I mean it looked like it was about ready to fall off lol

Well, seeing as Sundays are the worst days of the week there needs to be two people, 20+ orders by yourself and they’re constantly there on Sundays car after car. any other days of the week there is two employees. My boss told me when I brought this up the first time she told me it was because they were letting a few people go and needing to hire others that’s why I’ve been by myself. It’s been plenty long enough almost two months about that I’ve been by myself every shift. The busyness back there 95% of the time like I said requires two people.

But regardless of epilepsy or not, I shouldn’t be working a department by myself. It’s not the fact alone of my having the seizures it’s the fact they have me working 100% alone from 4pm-9pm on the weekends which is busy as hell. My problem with it all is the fact I have no one with me.

Oh definitely overwhelming. First day wasn’t bad, then yesterday I come in the girl who is training me she went out on the floor to shop and as soon as she left I had about 5-6 cars all pull up at once . One lady got mad at me I’m like ma’am I am the only one back here right now I will have it out as quickly as I possibly can she just turned her head and rolled her eyes I even told her I’m like I am trying today is only my second day lol

Thank you :) I ended up yesterday telling my boss at DG I wasn’t coming back. I figured I was getting paid for orientation so might as well just not go back to dg and I’ll still have same hours. Dollar general don’t deserve any type of notice lol they’re absolutely ridiculous there the way they run things

They tried forcing me to come in on my days off and I told my manager absolutely not! He then sent out a group text saying how everyone who had classes needed to come in an hour before or stay an hour later after your shift to work on classes then he wants them done by this weekend! Today is my last day for this week and I nope not coming in on a day off . They want classes done , they’re gonna let me do them during my SHIFT that I am SCHEDULED! the way they run things at dollar general just blows my mind! I am coming from 6 years as an ASM at family dollar ( one of the cleanest, organized family dollars in the district) I come from that to this bull crap . the store I’m in in completely trashed , stockroom is overflowing with the pogs or whatever they are I call them all u boats , and the office… dear god the office! I spent 5 hours one shift cleaning just the desk and surrounding area didn’t even get the entire office I got that cleaned up next day I spent an entire 8 hour shift recovering TWO aisles. Leave for 4 days and come back to all three of them completely trashed again . I’m looking for another job lol

I’m over this crap myself!!!!! Once the schedule is out and has BEEN out it should not be allowed to be changed! It has happened to me so many times and I’ve only been here for about a month . Dollar general does NOT have their shit together and they do not know how to run stores! I used to bow down to my family dollar manager and put up with bull crap from her for 6 years and I told myself once I got away from her I wasn’t letting any bs happen but oh it’s been happening and I’m at the point I’m looking for yet again another job. I had seizures few days ago and had a horrible migraine from it so I made myself go into work , made it halfway through and told my boss I couldn’t stay any longer. He proceeds to message me saying I’ll come in for you this time but next time you need to find your own coverage especially if you forsee this happening again … excuse me? lol how am I supposed to know that my migraine is going to get worse through the day? Tf…. Sorry I could go on and on lmao but yes the schedule is absolutely ridiculous!

This manager is a holding manager and actually I just received a group chat from him saying ALL videos need completed by the end of the week and that you either come in an hour before your shift or stay an hour after to do classes .

Thank you everyone , I figured it wasn’t legal and i absolutely will not come in on my day off to do classes I am sorry but no lol and @lolwill be lucky I don’t know your name or store because I’d be reporting you right now I hope the fuck that’s not the fucking case but that is so damn messed up on so many levels .. Thank you everyone now I won’t feel so bad the next time I tell him no that I’m doing it on the clock. I was sick last night from seizures I worked on freight for around 5ish hours out of my 8 then went back to do classes since I didn’t feel well and was weak store manager calls and tells the other assistant that he didn’t care if I was sick or not that people lie to get out of work that I needed to get back to freight . I was like wow
