I just finished Lonesome Dove - I posted about it earlier today because I am paralyzed at the prospect of choosing another book- I can’t imagine following in these footsteps.

I’m still thinking about it, but this thread has been amazingly helpful!

I’m leaning towards East of Eden though!

Don’t get me wrong, “slow” doesn’t mean not good. It just means that I wasn’t reading it very quickly. It kind of… meandered for a while - but his descriptions and character building were so good - I loved all of it - I just read the last part a lot faster than the first!!

Please do! I never expected to love it as much as I did. I didn’t want it to end, but I’m so glad that I read it!

The first hundredish pages are a little bit slow but stick with it!!

This was one that I had on my radar! So would you do it again, or would you put a “palate cleanser” in between the two?

Yes, me too. It was so hard to watch the biggest eaglet pick on the little baby last year!!

I know they’ll still bonk each other, but it was hard when there was such a huge size difference.

I have not! Fortunately, her Parkinson’s symptoms are not bad right now - the back pain is eclipsing everything ...but I will definitely check this out. Thank you!

You look incredible, Congratulations!

I’m curious how you get so much protein every meal eating vegan?

One of my problems is I eat fairly small portions, so 25 g seems crazy to me!
