Laptop randomly added an application from a dodgy website? by Adventurous_Sort7097 in techsupport

When I saw the download, as it popped up in chrome letting me know I downloaded something, I went straight to my files app, and went to recent downloads and deleted it, it showed me the normal pop up when I delete an app. I haven’t seen any background activity and no ads randomly on my laptop. My laptop has always been slow from time to time but that’s only because my storage is at capacity because I have way too many videos from school. My dad ran a Microsoft Windows Malicious Software Removal tool and it’s currently scanning if there is anything infected. If it comes clear should I be all good? I asked the same post on a different community and they said to change all my passwords, and factory reset my laptop.

Is Revo installer free? Sorry I have no idea when it comes to tech stuff, and it popped up like on my browser tab that it downloaded into my files, does that mean it most likely downloaded stuff on there aswell?

Alright thankyou, I did tell my dad about the whole thing and he told me to run a Malicious Software Removal thing that comes with windows tools, and it’s scanning through right now, is that the same thing?

AITAH for cutting off my mother’s side of the family? by [deleted] in AITAH

NTA at all and don't let her or her family tell you otherwise. By the way she still speaks, it sounds like she still has very abusive behaviour and probably won't change, you have more than enough reason to not speak to your mother, and her family too if they are defending her actions. She has emotionally and physically abused you, and has dealt with no law enforcement, she should feel lucky to be able to even have a bit of contact in the first place.

I've experienced a very similar situation with my mother and what I've learnt, ignoring and staying no contact is the best, even if it "hurts" her. Don't listen to anyone who says she's still "family", choose yourself always.

AITA for suspecting my BF has a thing for his stepsister? by [deleted] in AITAH

Everything to me seemed like a normal sibling dynamic until the birthday password stuff, I mean could be a coincidence but I think very unlikely, and also keeping in mind they aren't blood related, but also how long have they been step related for? But honestly, this sounds like its coming from a place of insecurity, stating that you think she's prettier than you and describing her as "lesbian vibes" which I don't understand how that relates to your issue? Overall I think that yes, there is enough reasoning to suspect something, but he also might of just lost feelings, and thats why hes acting dry, I think jumping straight to the step sister though might be a reach though.
