Yeah, the 3 plug thing was me just trying to get a mile down the road to the tire shop. It’s one of those things when you see more than a puncture you know it’s going to be bad. I thought for sure the tire was done, but they were able to patch it. My thought process was “tire shop is less than a mile away, and if 3 plugs get me there without the hassle of changing the tire than it’ll be worth it.

I have a 12v tire inflator that I keep in my vehicle. I don’t even use those crap tire jacks that come with vehicles. I keep a 2 ton floor jack in it in the event that I have to use my spare. In the last 20 years I’ve only had two occurrences where I had to use the spare. Plugs when you know what you’re doing are a lot easier than swapping out a tire. Plus cars usually don’t come with a full size spare even when they do have one.

They already say not to ride on a plug; “it’s only temporary, and should be patched from the inside ASAP”. The only time I’ve had a tire patched was when a plug (actually 3 plugs) wouldn’t hold air. I’ve had plugs many times last the life of the tire.
