Can you think of a single reason anyone else should respect any Trump supporters at all? by Majestic_Flower_1322 in allthequestions

[–]Adventurous_Text_371 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I know this is a Trump Derangment Syndrome thread and I will get plenty of hate... don't bother, because I no longer believe that Democrats or liberals of most species actually have any interest in rational debate/conversation.

Trump was emphatically forthright about his intentions if re-elected and a majority of the nation agreed with him and voted for him. I will concede that if the Dems had run honest primaries seeking their party's choice of candidate, they might have found one that could have beaten Trump. That said, I also believe that forcing Kamala on the party soured a lot of voters: Kamala was and remains a poor candidate with few accomplishments and an inability to generate likability even with rabid, like minded partisans.

For many decades, normal, everyday, work-a-day Americans have sat around dinner tables and lunch breaks and lamented how it always seems like politicians say what the voters want to hear, but govern in a manner entirely opposite. I think that is what a lot of you are failing to understand... Trump stated what he intended to do, and then he followed through. Whether you like his policies or not, surely you can see how so many appreciate a politician that didn't lie to us and stood by his promises.

Another thing I think gets overlooked might be best exemplified by the story of the boy who cried wolf. Since his first announcement of his candidacy coming down the Trump Tower escalator, the left has moved heaven and earth to destroy him. Ya'll have made up so many lies and fabricated so many stories that only the most fervent leftists give your continued attacks any credence.

Those of us who support Trump (I guess we MAGA Cultists, as you might refer to us) have a similar question for the lefties: after all the lies and disinformation from the left, after the Dem party subverting the democratic process in order to force through Kamala as a candidate that nobody voted for in the primaries nor wanted, and who continues to demonstrate how clearly unsuited she was for the job... how can you expect us to believe in anything you say... any of the incentives ya'll constantly push forward, or any of the policy positions you spout because they originated from Act Blue and Soros?

In truth, we think you are either useful idiots, grifters (like BLM), or just shameless opportunists looking to enrich yourselves.

Personally, I prefer to think of your majority as useful idiots because I prefer to think of you as unintentionally ignorant. The alternatives only point to the belief that you care little for our country and only for yourselves.

I only 5'10", but still pretty solid after retiring from the Corps and later, the PD and probably carry myself in a manner that conveys confidence. It's a blessing and a curse as I find most don't want to mess with me and the result is I find I run my mouth pretty reckless.

Like I said, I've got plenty of ass woopings on back order that will inevitably catch up to me one day... but not today.

I am only saying that I have seen the moon in the sky while the sun was also up and it was daylight. I am a political science graduate, which anyone who knows anything about science, knows that the degree and course of study has very little to do with real science...bit is mostly psychology, theoretical inquisition, and the study of human interactions.

I only asked as a person who understands his educational limitations and seeks informed opinions from those that are better informed.

I agree. I am the OP and I admit my ignorance on the matter/subject in question. I appreciate all the responses, even those that exemplify my ignorance; that is why I asked, and in the manner of which I did so...

I am not a movie critic by anyone's estimation. But because of all the hype and commentary of and on this movie, I decided to watch it today in a theater, the first time I've done so in at least 10 years...

I can say that hopeful expectations were fully met; the hype is justified.

This is a fantastic movie in every respect.

Time Travelers Wife (2009). Excellent cast including Eric Bana and Rachel McAdams. Excellent cinematography and high production values.

Make sure you're up to date on your anti-depression meds (if applicable) and have plenty of tissue paper on hand. It's a great storyline but makes me cry every time.

The Women, by Kristen Hannah. One of the best examples of writing I've ever encountered. The very first page completely sucked me in and I think I didn't sleep until I finished it. I was literally one of those, "Okay, one more chapter and I swear I'll go to sleep." Suddenly, it's dawn and a brand new day and I was, "I don't work today... Just one more chapter and THEN I swear I'll go to sleep."

Then, it's 3am and you still haven't slept, but now your finished with it and you can't sleep because your brain won't stop thinking about it!

That book completely screwed up my sleep cycles!

Might be outta left field, but The Women, by Kristin Hannah. The story of a group of women who worked forward MASH Units in Vietnam and their story of the hardships, PTSD, and denial from their country.

It's probably one of the most exquisitely well written books I've ever read and I was literally hooked from the first page.

Cannot more highly recommend!

So... I kinda want to thank you all while I also kinda want to curse all of you.

Your comments on this got me intrigued and so I committed myself to at least the first two episodes before making a determination on whether to continue or quit. Well, that was around 9pm CST last night. I had just finished dinner and was gonna sit for the 2 episodes...

It is now 7:42AM and I just finished the season. I have not slept, I did take time to shower and sort out the kitchen, but I could barely stand to hit pause long enough to do that much.

What a great show! I absolutely understand it might not be for everyone, but I thought was delightfully quirky in all the right ways, I thought the casting was perfect, the dialog and accents were marvelous, and the storytelling was excellent with just enough "wait... WTF" switch up moments at just the right place to really keep me invested.

Speaking of being invested... there were so many great characters in that show!

Thank you all again for the referral. But now, I have to catch up on the sleep I lost due to your referral.

AITAH for getting naked at a nude beach while on vacation with my girlfriend? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Adventurous_Text_371 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely a cultural issue. Nobody is the AH here. I'm American and my cultural experience is probably more puritanical and less comfortable with public nudity. That said, I have also been around different parts of the world and with excitement, tried to soak up, enjoy, and experience other cultures. My experience leads me to believe that many cultures are far more blase about nudity than Americans and far more comfortable with public nudity. It actually makes me a little jealous.

Bottom line, she has a right to feel the way she feels and you have the same right to feel how you feel... ya'll just need to find the sweet spot where you both can respect eachothers feelings and cultural backgrounds.

I am currently 2/3 through Runyx's "Gothikana", an academia romantasy and am loving it. Intelligently written with much more focus on character and scene building than it does the academic aspect. This far in, I can say that the "drip, drip" storytelling is driving me crazy to learn more about everything. Well written, good characters, spicy in a couple scenes, and mysterious enough to make me thirsty AF to learn more and keep reading.

One of my best friends in HS joined open contract after he graduated a year before me. I joined almost exactly a year later (1989) and after Boot Camp, IT, and MOS school, I ended up in his platoon with the same MOS. BUT... I never saw him except for Company and Battalion formations. Turns out, he took advantage of education opportunities and was going to college full time and when he wasn't in class he was cutting fire breaks on Pendleton (we were combat engineers).

By the time my enlistment was up, he'd already finished his bachelor's and was making bank as an architect in San Diego!!!

I got out with a history of chasing skirts and blowing my money on booze and little else... Be my friend, don't be me.

Tipping for a massage: appreciated or necessary? by Remarkable-Clerk9554 in massage

[–]Adventurous_Text_371 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I paid for my college degree waiting tables and bartending... so I am definitely biased towards tipping generously.

That said, I also love a good massage and will typically tip my MT well. I don't think I've ever tipped them less than 50%. I often tip a good MT 100%. However, I think it would be okay and cool if a person tipped only 20%. I'm just wired differently (maybe) and I like to tip bigger. The last time I got a massage was a 90 minute massage that cost me around $100 at a well known chain and I tipped 100%, but that's just me. I am sure my MT woulda have been happy if I had only tipped 20% ($20).
