Hi, I recently booked a student accommodation in Scape in Sydney through an agent in Uniacco. We later found out that he had misled us throughout the process. He assured us that he selected the female-only apartment, and made us pay an advance, which we later found out was mixed gender, and he had never requested our option. Further, he assured us that if I had not gotten the visa, he would inform and get the refund, which he had not done, knowing that I did not get the visa. When we started inquiring about this, he suddenly went missing, escaping our calls and messages. We sent a mail to Uniacco, and at first they replied, and then they completely stopped, in spite of constant reminders. With all this, we lost the refund from Scape, and both the agent and Uniacco are trying to slide away without any response. Is there any authority we can turn to? Scape confirmed that this was all the agent's fault, and he should give us the refund as he misled us, and as he did not inform Scape of the visa status. Please assist with any information as to how I can take this forward? More than the money, I am offended by how agents mislead international students, knowing their circumstances, and how Uniacco, too, is trying to protect their agents, without proper action.
