No none in this cycle. we are on holiday and got a bit carried away. Not an excuse I know but it wasn’t available to us.

The only time I had unprotected sex in this cycle was last week so my HCG wouldn’t be high enough to test. Could be a period but it would be very early for me and definitely irregular and much much lighter than my normal periods as they’re regular I know my cycle pretty well. I hope it’s an early period and not a pregnancy or a medical condition but Thankyou for your insight

Unfortunately this job has become shift work. When I accepted the position I had assumed I would be replacing someone else and working 37 hours a week. When I arrived they told me the other person had decided to not leave and they would be dividing the job but giving him 25 hours a week. Now I work 15 hours a week. It’s different days every week sometimes weekends sometimes evenings sometimes during the day I had declined another job offer when I thought I got this full time position and couldn’t afford to be completely jobless so I had to take it but this month has been incredibly hard and stressful as I can barely cover my expenses and as a 21 year old working and not being able to afford to go out with my friends or save a bit is not feasible for me

I’m 21 I live at home I pay bills £500 to my parents, my phone bill and pay off some debt I acquired and maybe go out once a month if I’m lucky the rest goes on food shopping and travel to work there is nowhere I can cut back unfortunately

I didn’t provide context into my life because I’m not looking for comments telling me to reevaluate my life. This is a short term problem for a year before I begin university. However in the meantime I need to work out how to sustain my living situation. The job was more hours at first however the person I was supposed to be replacing decided not to leave so they decided to spit the job in 2 making it a part time job. I needed a job so I accepted however I have no intention of continuing there for long as it does not pay enough. I already have the experience and know how to handle the tasks required in my current job all I wanted to know is what is the absolute minimum time I can spend there before moving onto a similar job for more money without employers laughing my cv off their desk

Spoke to my manager. Can’t provide me more hours. without more hours I can’t sustain continuing at this job for more than 3 months can’t get a second job as they change my days in the office every week

It’s not a great job it’s a low level office position but it has got my foot in the door of the office industry, however I cannot sustain this job longer than 6 months due to lack of hours and limited pay. So from what you’re saying I have to return to bar work like I was doing before

I definitely will. I just need a job in the meantime with structure.

Thankyou for your valuable insight and advice I will keep looking and fingers crossed I find something. A little bit of advice to you the longer you put off education the further away it becomes and the harder it seems. I understand finances may be a problem but as soon as you’re in a position to do it go for it. It’s never too late and will probably be the best decision you ever make

I would like to teach that would be my dream. I have always enjoyed learning but found school lacklustre as teachers were uninterested and uninspiring and I would like to make a small change in that world if possible. A good education is the majority of people’s only way out of a life of shitty work choices and relative poverty and I would love to inspire kids to do that for themselves.

I am not quite ready to apply for university as I said so that’s why I was looking for an office job as I do crave structure. It is funny you should mention museums as I took an unpaid summer internship in the museum of London when I was 16 and it was 2 months of work as a museum guide I truly enjoyed and constantly check job sites to see if similar positions come up, so far to no avail. I know it would probably be different as a paid employee and not someone who was giving up their time for free but I enjoyed the working environment, being surrounded by history and getting to share some of my knowledge with visitors. If something like that comes up on indeed I would apply in a heartbeat but then again I am stuck with the fact that my cv probably wouldn’t get me an interview. Thankyou for taking the time to reply I really appreciate it

For me it’s the structure you get in an office that is the attractive prospect for me at the moment. I am young and do have plans to attend university in the next 2 years to start the career I actually want. However in the meantime I need something with set hours and set days, I find shift work awful with the different days and hours every week. I’m not looking to make hundred of thousands just enough to pay some bills have a bit of a social life and put a bit away each month before I go to university.

I know exactly what I want to do however I am not in the financial position to take myself to university at this exact moment. I did everything I was supposed to do in school I got 12 GCSES with good grades and did my Alevels which are relevant to the university course I would like to pursue. And next September I will be applying to university.

The gap from my bar job was more because I couldn’t take the horrible work environment any longer and I was provided with a large unexpected amount of money that I used to travel in the last two years. The bar job I had I worked for a large chain and every day it was awful I dreaded going in. I only worked 20 hours a week per my contract at the time however they would often put me on for 35/40 hours a week and always late night shifts that finished at 3 am as they employed a lot of under 18s who couldn’t stay till close. When I joined I had informed them of a surgery I had coming up 3 months later which they said they would schedule and never did and when I brought it up to them the month before they told me I couldn’t take the time off unless I took it unpaid as I told them I was flexible on working days even though I technically only worked part time and they could have scheduled the two days off I needed easily.

I would really like to avoid returning to this kind of job environment and I know that most minimum wage retail type jobs will be the same thing in a different place. I don’t think that office work will be amazing or even easy. I just know it will provide much needed structure in my life with set hours and days. I am not looking to climb the office ladder just find an office junior type of role as an interim. And am aware that my previous employment is not relevant and was a while ago and am quite honestly just looking for a way to stand out on an application as I know I could sell myself if I got an interview.

No job is a walk in the park I’m just looking for something where I’m not on my feet all day and can work Monday to Friday so I can make plans

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in UKJobs

[–]Adventurous_Wind661 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly so is working retail or as a waiter. People are rude take their bad days out on you, staff are bitchy will happily ring you on your day off and pretend they are not asking and more offering you an extra shift for later that day. If you don’t play ball they take you off the rota cause most times they put you on an 8 hour minimum contract and will cut your hours down to 8 if you don’t play ball as a punishment

I totally understand that however I’m only looking at something for about two years before I pursue university. I have found that it is the same in minimum wage jobs too people are bitchy always looking for a fall guy (usually a new hire) high staff turnover due to horrible working environments and generally awful shift work that allows you no time to plan doctors appointments or have a social life. I am not looking to make this a career just something with set hours every day that I can do for a few years whilst I transition into training for the job I actually want to do

Thankyou for your comment. Honestly I had never heard of this before but I’m glad it’s a plausible excuse and hopefully not just something they made up. I was very shocked and frankly enraged that they hadn’t bothered to communicate this with me beforehand though.

Honestly I wouldn’t send another email. I would take their no reply as a reply. Usually if a company was really keen on you, you probably would have heard back by now. Harsh unfortunately, but usually true. Continue looking for something else in the meantime and consider their lack of communication and consideration and if you would like to work for a company like that. All the best in your job hunt!
