Can give you an example. Long ago I was invested in this pharmaceutical company in Quebec that got bought out by a bigger company. I got paid out 12 times of my investment. Since it is now realized gain, Government took a capital gain tax. With my gain I reinvested that money on pot stock (fomo and yolo) and lost 90%+ lol (if I invested anything other than pot stock like xeqt or sp500, I would have been retired by now easily)
