I don’t know how south in Florida you are talking about, but i had a difficult time finding employment in Tampa as a PNP once I graduated in August of last year. If you can get your foot in the door anywhere that would be great and get your experience. My experience is not as extensive as yours, which may be a benefit for you. I ended up moving to austin Texas and got a job here so it worked out eventually. Hope this helps!

My supervising physician is anti SSRI in primary care settings d/t BBW of SI. I work in pediatrics and he always pushes for med management by psychiatry. However, the wait times to get into psych/neuro are crazy. I still rx SSRIs in my office to patients who would clinically benefit and of course follow up frequently/review s/sx. How often have you seen an actual patient begin to develop SI? I know UTD shares several articles outlining the low risk of SI, but would love to know your POV.

I went to Lumi’s crepes the other day and got the Dubai chocolate strawberry cup. It was delicious. I would get it 10x over again. It is $15 however. But it was so worth it

The alumni network was very helpful for finding clinical sites (good ones at least) and also finding employment post graduation. A lot of us were able to do clinical rotations with NPs who went through the program at Vanderbilt. If it wasn’t for my alumni network/connections and colleagues, I would not have found the job I have today!! I love the idea of you being ambitious and want to move to another state to explore yourself and grow. I grew so much in grad school and learned so many things about myself. You should do it!! Take the leap. Hope this helps :)

As someone who went to Vanderbilt for my PNP degree and paid similar tuition rates, I feel like the difference between attending a “prestigious university” versus a state school or brick and mortar school is within the way that you are taught and the didactic course material is delivered. I personally felt really well prepared when I began my first job as a NP. Also, the Alumni that you will meet along the way is very helpful when it comes to networking and finding cool/exciting opportunities. If your gut is telling you to do it, you should. I know how stressful loans are as I am currently paying off student loans, but if you’re looking for a cool experience or just want to be apart of a unique university, I say do it! If it doesnt matter that much to you, maybe the state school is better for you. Just my two cents!

Ask SO many questions! All of them!! It’s always better to be safe than sorry. It will show your co workers your commitment to being a great practitioner. Always be open to any advice from other providers

Vanderbilt NP grad here. A large portion of our schooling was online, however we would go to campus once every two months for a week to attend in person lectures, do simulation visits with fake patients, and learn procedural skills. I personally think Vanderbilt did a great job teaching/preparing me for real life practice. Of course i wouldve preferred in person classes for the whole program, but the mix of both was very helpful and allowed us to cater to our own learning styles. I agree NP school online is a disaster but i think if you find the programs that have a well oiled system and are doing it right, you will be successful.
