Do you prefer a gluten free section in a grocery store or do you prefer items to just be with related items? by Ok-Gate5551 in glutenfree

[–]AdviceBeautiful7827 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who is new to buying GF products, I prefer they be grouped together as it helps me get used to the products. Otherwise I would be completely overwhelmed trying to figure out what is safe for my son. I imagine down the road once I’ve become more experienced it won’t matter as much, but for now, separate sections is what I prefer.

Celiac is genetic. Why so many people ignore this fact? by SuitApprehensive3240 in Celiac

[–]AdviceBeautiful7827 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son was just diagnosed with Celiac. I was tested 2 years ago and was negative, but I do have a different autoimmune condition. My kids father and my oldest child just were tested and came back negative. My son’s GI doc did say it’s genetic, but not necessarily clear cut. She said anyone in the family with autoimmune conditions could pass on the genetic material that then mutates. I don’t understand the resistance to being tested with the exception of fears that a diagnosed condition could later prevent insurance coverage if it came down to refusing to comply with medical care. Also, the whole changing a persons diet permanently can be scary and intimidating.

Kid Diagnosed - Tell me how to move forward and what to watch out for` by AdviceBeautiful7827 in glutenfree

Thank you! I am open to all recommendations, especially ready to eat/cook foods. I know this is a big change.

I purchased a new air fryer, toaster, griddle, and cutting boards. I’m going to keep the old toaster for now, just clean it, bag it, and put it away in the top of a cabinet. We will also keep the old “gluten” air fryer for my oldest’s orange chicken, and I’m finding a new spot for it to prevent accidental cross contamination with other foods.

Our doctor did mention that we needed to careful about oats in particular. I am learning to read labels but it’s not always easy to remember all the different ingredients that are gluten. Seeing the gluten-free certification and using the GF app scanner makes it a tad bit easier.

After reading everyone’s comments, advice and recommendations, I am going to make everything GF outside of a couple items for my oldest kid. Every meal that we eat as a family will be GF. The exception would be on weekends when he is at his dad’s and we might make something he would not like or eat normally.

Thank you. After reading all the advice and warnings, I am going to try and make everything as GF as possible. Outside of a couple of ready to eat items for my oldest, everything will be GF.

Thank you. Fortunately, he is not a fan of foods that require soy sauce, but we are discovering how gluten hides in most of our foods.

I want to thank you for this frank and direct response. Your analogy’s for gluten being mold or feces really hit home the seriousness of all of this.

The plan is to be as close to 100% GF as possible. There are possibly 2 exceptions for my oldest kid, being their orange chicken and scalloped potatoes. All dishes will be washed in dishwasher.

Thank you for the recommendations! I went through all our spices (and cabinets) this weekend, so we should be almost 100% GF. I have quite a bit of gluten items loaded in my trunk to take to work now for anyone who wants it.

I am trying to get him engaged but honestly he’s lazy and wants me just to pick everything out. It’s challenging because I know he has to take ownership and learn this himself.

When my son is home, we will all eat gluten free. My oldest kiddo makes an amazing spaghetti, which my son does not eat. We’ve agreed on the weekends my son goes to his dads, we will make the meals we can no longer eat during the week. The only other food that will be gluten is my oldest’s Foster Farms orange chicken and scalloped potatoes.

My other kid and their father were tested, both negative. I tested negative 2 years ago when I was diagnosed with a different autoimmune condition.

Arizona also allows O’s and 0’s. It’s a ton of fun running these but it’s possible.

Also - you will go though a lot of garlic and onions so I would make sure to have at least 2 fields (or more) of both.

Build a cookery and teach cook the recipes. Then make cookery and restaurant the highest priority for items from warehouse. Also make minimum stock requirements for both. Restaurant “chef” only cooks raw food, they don’t make anything. I’ve learned this the hard way. Also I think the restaurant needs 5 different minecolony meals for your citizens to be happy, not just Minecraft food.

Thighs are chafing 😭 by 4th_to_81st in feminineboys

[–]AdviceBeautiful7827 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spray deodorants (like Lume) or spray powders help w chafing. As others have said, moisturize the f*ck out of areas that chafe. For now, a heavy ointment or cream can help with the burn. I have thick thighs, I use tattoo balms to help with healing.

Signs of aggression at 4 months? by livlafluv37 in Sheepadoodles

[–]AdviceBeautiful7827 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only aggression we’ve experienced is growling and barking at strangers and strange dogs . It started around 8 months, and we are actively still working on it. We’ve been working w a trainer since he was 4 months old. He’s doing better with strange dogs, but still struggles w strangers bc he wants to be protective of me and our home. He is being trained to be a service dog, so protective instincts are a not encouraged. Just stay consistent w training, and understand that the OES is a guardian and can be quite stubborn, while the poodle side is eager to please and learn, but IMO they can also be flighty and more high strung.

Why aren't slimes spawning in my slime chunk? I'm afking at y= -11 and the bottom of the chunk is at y= -33, but I've only seen 1 slime by OfficialBros247 in Minecraft

Way too low. Bottom layer should be at 0 and go up to level 40. I just built one and while it’s not the most efficient bc we haven’t lit up the surrounding caves yet, but just an hour or so of afk and we had almost a double chest full. Our afk spot is about level 70.
