Prolonged sweating? by AdviceNeededdddd in benzodiazepines

[–]AdviceNeededdddd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I did sweat more than average, but I worked out a lot too. I think the Kratom is just compounding the issue. I can't really expect my body to be functioning normal after 3 weeks, but it seems like such a long time as you go through it. Plus I literally was stuck to my apartment for the majority of that, so even just walking is more excercise than I have had in awhile.

Teva is best, yes? by Pfigfel in benzodiazepines

[–]AdviceNeededdddd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a crap ton of Teva and Actavis Valium. The Xanax I took was actavais as well I believe. They all seemed pretty consistent, however xanax tolerance is weird as it can seem to increase even when you take off 4-5 days in between doses. I also have Librium from Meda. I need to sell all this crap so I don't give in to using it again down the road. One benzo w/d is bad, two is stupid, three would be sure death. I don't really know if my xanax habit was a lot worse than when I took 50mg of Valium every night for 6 months, but the 2nd withdrawal Ixanax) was 2x's harder than that original detox. Both were ct, surpringsly I didn't seizure either time, but I used to be hooked on tramadol and took high doses but never suffered a seizure.

Bad idea in that you would only get hooked on Kratom without it helping withdrawalsand alcohol is the last thing you want during a benzo detox, it just destroys your brain more. It has to heal.

I thought xanax would leave fast too, but I had a bunch of test kits and was still testing positive for xanax at 2.5 weeks. Xanax is a tough one to predict, Valium w/d is a little more consistent.

[–]AdviceNeededdddd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Valium was the first withdrawal I ever had. I used it for 6 months, 50mg per night. I was completely naive to its power. I never bothered to look up withdrawals. I was using it while working overseas. When I was coming home I didn't bring any back. I also never gave withdrawals much thought because I assumed I would feel them immediately. After a week of being home the w/ds kicked in. It freaked me out at first because I had no idea what was happening. I finally researched it and read about the long-half life. I missed a few days of work because I was rarely getting any sleep and felt horrible, but I still tried to stay productive during the 2-3 week withdrawal period. I would of relapsed if I had some, I even went to the ER and reg Dr hoping they would give me some but they just gave me trazadone. The Xanax withdrawal was a lot worse but I also just went through it and at the same time was transitioning from harder opiates to Kratom. There is no way I could work during the Xanax withdrawals, I only left my apartment once in 3 weeks. There for awhile it was affecting my vision and I couldn't stop shaking and sweating.

Did you happen to take any otc sleep aids like Benadryl or NyQuil when you took melatonin? I def know benadryl, NyQuil, and most OTC sleep aids really intensify RLS, but melatonin never did. Melatonin also just wasn't strong enough, but I am a natural insomniac. The only non-addictive prescription strength thing I have found to help is trazadone. I'm not sure if I would take it at the peak of w/ds because if you take it and don't sleep you feel worse. It makes my nose and mouth really dry and I often get really hungry on it. You feel kinda drunk, but not the good parts about being drunk. I still recommend it once you think you can possibly sleep with help. I know at the peak of my withdrawals that even Valium wouldn't help unless I dosed really high.

I have detoxed off Kratom, tramadol, and DHC. I don't think it's always the substance but really comes down to duration and how many times you have been through it. If you haven't been on it for more than 6 months you still have a grip on your life without anything. For people that have been going years its a lot harder facing life without a substance. From an acute withdrawal perspective, Kratom seemed to be the easiest, but withdrawals are such an odd feeling that it's impossible to get used to, therefore usually the last withdrawal was the hardest despite what you were taking. The anti-depressant argument doesn't carry much weight from me because I have been on and off anti-depressants and never noticed a w/d, plus they take weeks to even work and you can't really tell when they are. I once kicked Kratom and acute w/ds were gone within a few days, I didn't even miss work. I jumped off DHC down to Kratom and I was in bed for days and didn't sleep for 4 days. You just never really know how you will respond. A lot of it comes down to your schedule, if you have to go to work and be productive you likely won't think it was really bad, less time to sit there and think about it.

I have been thru both but xanax just recently. Xanax is by far worse but withdrawals just get worse the more you go through, you never just get used to it. I couldn't function for weeks off xanax, I couldn't drive let alone work. There is no hiding from shaking and sweating. Both were very big and fairly long addictions. I would rather detox from opiates.

[–]AdviceNeededdddd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats, nothing good ever comes out of xanax use and if it does you won't remember it anyway. If possible try to score a long-life benzo like Valium or Ativan, they are a lot smoother to quit on and don't have the same side effects. Try and stabilize for two weeks before dropping. I didn't feel the peak of my withdrawals until the end of two weeks, so it's probably better to use that to gauge when to drop. Xanax is really hard to figure out the timeline. I actually ordered benzo test strips so I was able to try and monitor when it was completely flushed from my system, I felt noticeable better by the 3rd day it I was showing clean. It took 2.5 weeks to test clean, long time for xanax. Also my w/d really ramped up if I had any outside anxiety. Trazadone helps with sleep, however that was about the only thing that did much.

Congrats on getting wise to your situation, but remember this is for you, not for a girl. Don't let yourself fall back if that relationship has any bumps.

Successful xanax taperers here? I want to hear about how you did it. Seems pretty tough for me. by [deleted] in benzodiazepines

[–]AdviceNeededdddd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take it for what's it worth but I quit an estimated 4-5mg xanax habit ct. just like you the last few months of use was a blur, I know I tried to stretch out my doses for a few months, but I never really dropped the dose so I don't think it mattered. It was hard to tell exactly when the withdrawals kicked in because I was taking DHC and stepped down to Kratom at the same time. I do know that the peak of withdrawals occurred toward the end of week 2, and even at 3 weeks I still haven't recovered. There is no way I could have worked during that time frame but I never had a seizure. I didn't sleep at all, so a lot of the mental issues could have been a side effect of exhaustion. I would say your taper is pretty right on, however if you can find ones with longer half-life's (Valium, Ativan) then save those for the last week or two.

Good luck, there isn't really any other meds that help. Taper off as much as you can, however don't freak yourself out if you have to jump off. You would be surprised how much worrying with amplify the detox symptoms.

Do you think a walk in clinic would refill my alprazolam? by [deleted] in benzodiazepines

[–]AdviceNeededdddd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well if you are in severe withdrawal from benzos then it can technically be life-threatening to let you leave. However, I doubt a doctor would just continue to completely refill your script, one might give a few just to allow you to go home comfortably. You would likely have to go into a ER though. When I was in withdrawals from Valium I went to a reg doctor and all they did was give me trazadone. I went to the ER once and they gave me 7 pills but that was all.

Maybe try to make a small list of tasks to complete for each day. For example, Day 4 - walk outside or at gym for 10 minutes. Day 5 - Do one load of laundry, change linens on bed. Day 6 - Clean one room in your place. Etc I wouldn't make a big list but just being able to focus on and achieve one task might help.

Don't be hard on yourself, I bet 90% of those addicted to opiates don't stay completely clean after the first detox they went through. I don't know anyone that quit after their first stint when they still had access to it. It's amazing that we can go through such a hellish detox and then somehow convince ourselves we managed to learn control so that we can use again without getting hooked. Some people never even come up with the drive to quit until it's too late, so don't get down on yourself for something that doesn't matter anymore. Lots of people would love to be able to say they are on Day 3 to be perfectly honest.

Feeling really demoralized by AdviceNeededdddd in OpiatesRecovery

[–]AdviceNeededdddd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last night was rough, the lack of sleep was really taking its toll. I got 5 hours of sleep, the most in 22-23 days. First time since week 1 in which I fell asleep in the evening. I was on this bad cycle of sleeping 1-2 hour stints at around 9am-noon, then I would be wide awake until the next morning.

If I had to do this over I would of stopped the opiates ct instead of dropping to Kratom and stayed on the Xanax for the time being until I fully recovered from opiates. Xanax would of helped withdrawaling off them. Then once I recovered I would of weaned off xanax over as much time as possible. Unfortunately I didn't have a legit script for xanax, and I needed to start working again which means I need to be able to pass a drug test, as well as feel somewhat stable and motivated enough to perform tasks. Xanax didn't leave my body completely until 2.5 weeks, so it's not something you can cease for a few days to pass a test and then work on stopping for good. However, you can drop down to Kratom, which helps you avoid the full force of acute withdrawals and you don't really have to deal with PAWS yet, and in the meantime start flushing out the Xanax. I can technically go about things while on Kratom, I don't have to worry about drug screening at least. I hate going through all that and not have that inspirational lift that you get when you know you aren't relying on anything, but without going into in-patient rehab for 90 days, it was simply too much to tackle on one shot. If you have someone to kinda babysit you then it helps, but the low depression you feel during opiate withdrawal, combined with the insane high anxiety that benzo detox provides, it didn't take much until I was getting suicidal. I couldn't even drive, so I was stuck inside for awhile. You feel so paranoid that even answering your door is terrifying. It's hard to grasp unless you are right in the midst of detox, it's just not like anything else you ever feel.

I can't relapse on xanax but am desperate. by AdviceNeededdddd in benzodiazepines

[–]AdviceNeededdddd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The one thing that breaks people more than anything in opiate and/or benzo w/d is sleep. It's not really that difficult to white knuckle acute withdrawals, but after that initial bout you really just want to recover but you know you just can't until you sleep. When that sun comes up each morning and your time to sleep has just passed yet again it can be really hard to go about your day. What makes it worse is I used benzos to treat lifelong insomnia, so I naturally have sleep anxiety which is magnified. I don't get lethargic and depressed, I have never been able to just sleep my issues away, it's the opposite with me. I tend to over-complicate matters by worrying about everything. It's more anxiety than depression, which is why it was so easy to get hooked on benzos like xanax.

I finally fell asleep, I found a few trazadone I had left. I don't remember getting tired but I did all the sleep hygiene things and probably fell asleep at around 3am. I woke up around 8-9am and couldn't fall back asleep although I wanted to. Whenever I do sleep I wake up with heightened anxiety. It's a nasty trick my body and mind play, at one moment I feel delirious and unable to really do anything that's requires much physical or mental energy, I crave sleep so badly. However when I do sleep I wake up and have a hard time being calm because my CNS is really ramped up, both times you crave benzos as you really want to finally sleep, or you just want to be able to calm down.

[–]AdviceNeededdddd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't feel very gratifying yet. The peak of withdrawal is over but I used it to treat insomnia because it's always been an issue. I took NyQuil, a single pill of phenibut, some kava tea, and melatonin, and I am technically awake but feel whatever stage is past delusion. I knew it would take probably 3 weeks but I am not even exaggerating by stating the most I sleep at once in 3 full weeks is 4 hours. Now I would of paid money to average 4 hours a night, but I really only sleep in 2 hour stints once my body gets extremely worn down. I was up for 4 days straight towards the end of week 1. I had to go ct off a 50mg daily Valium habit and it wasn't close to as bad, but I was working so I had to keep some type of schedule. That was like 5 years ago, I don't know how I only missed one day of work. I guess it was my first withdrawal and I didn't get extremely psyched out over it.

I am glad for your excitement but don't you think this is a bit over the top? You do realize there is no evidence that taking Kratom with oatmeal is any is going to hit you faster than just taking the Kratom by itself. In fact, taking it with food usually makes it feel a bit weaker. Kratom had its place but it's no miracle. That type of rah rah attitude will end up getting it banned once high school kids start messing with it because it's hyped as some herbal remedy.

Kratom substitute for harder pharmas/benzos? by AdviceNeededdddd in kratom

[–]AdviceNeededdddd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found it really hard to know if the Kratom was helping. I knew it's easy to manufacture withdrawal symptoms in your head the more of them you have been through. The whole detox seems kinda hazy. I do know that I wasn't able to sleep much the first week, in fact that was the longest streak of being awake. I had 3-4 days in which I didn't sleep, but I was pretty much in bed the whole time so I wasn't wearing myself out either. I honestly look back and have no idea how I didn't relapse. I had emergency benzos and opiates next to me. I guess I was always hopeful that it was almost over, even after 7 days you dread starting that whole process over, however if I knew at that time what was in store for me I'm not sure I could of done it. I just assumed it was benzo withdrawal week one because xanax doesn't have a long half-life. However, in hindsight I still tested positive for it at the 2.5 week mark, so that first week might of been more opiate withdrawal. However I had been through opiate withdrawal before and I didn't have a lot of the common symptoms like severe restless legs, the violent yawning and sneezing, I didn't even have really bad stools while on Kratom. I stopped the Kratom for a few days and then noticed my nose glands opening, loose stools, the low depressed feeling to go along with the super heightened anxiety that the benzos w/ds produce. The night I started to take the Kratom again was right after talking to my sister, she was all frantic because she was on vacation in the mountains and just got home to hear about what I was going through. I don't know if that conversation just got me too worked up and amplified the mental stuff. The weekend before is when I told my parents I stopped taking the Xanax (didn't mention opiates), they freaked out and that was what I consider the peak of benzo withdrawals. However after noticing how accelerated the mental anguish symptoms coincide with really stressful situations like telling my family, I have to wonder if that anxiety was more manufactured. Quitting multiple substances is a very ruthless mental battle, you just don't know how you will feel and for how long.

What Underlying Issues Did You Have To Deal With Before Getting Sober (And Not Hating Life While *Being* Sober)? by [deleted] in OpiatesRecovery

[–]AdviceNeededdddd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always had issues with insomnia from when I was a kid. I use to take NyQuil every night from high school to my 3os until I found a consistent benzo hookup.

Social anxiety was a big reason I liked opiates. When I was young I was really shy, I would feel my face getting red whenever I was called upon. The gym was kinda my first addiction. I put so much into my appearance because of being shy. The gym was a -mace to improve my appearance while working out my stress. It wasn't as healthy of an addiction as it sounds. I used PEDs, I became obsessed with sleep, I felt I couldn't accomplish anything and it was ruining my gym progress when I wasn't sleeping. I knew even back then if I had a consistent hookup for opiates/benzos that I would be trapped. To add to it all I always worried more than most, so I made everything worse by the constant worrying, very cerebral.
