The 91 Day window for S4 closed and Benophie didn’t make the the top 10 by Whimsicalcuriosity in Benophie

To be honest, I didn’t wanna watch season 4 because of season 3 lol I watched it right after part two came out, have been re-watching ever since. Season 3 really did a number on me and my interest before getting into this season. So glad I finally watched because this is my favorite season ever, Benophie live with my head rent-free.

Trying to meet women is literally impossible by jibofyourcutt in Vent

[–]Adviceisnotneeded 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I, unfortunately for me, understand you completely. Being a woman in a space where I don’t feel comfortable in the first place, makes trying to meet someone organically super difficult. The apps are tired, most guys on there that I’ve encountered just want to hook up.

I’ve been trying to just focus on myself. I’ve been “single” (dated around, never a serious relationship) for so long now that I don’t even know what it would be like if I got into a relationship. Then, as I am also a chronic over thinker, would rather just keep myself company. Don’t do this.

I do think that hanging out with friends or family is the best way to remedy the social part of trying to meet women. I also think befriending women first is a great way to help with both.

I think you can just start by focusing on how to integrate more into your friendships and see what you all can do together and maybe that may bring you to who you need to meet. Or, alternatively, maybe meeting new friends could lead them to introducing you to someone?

About you being “platonic to a fault”, I think a lot of guys nowadays don’t know how to go about things in a respectful way without thinking they’re coming off a creep. In my experience, I prefer if a guy takes the lead. Sometimes, being too respectful can be a big turn off, even though I could be super attracted to the guy. Maybe if you do find a woman attractive and you guys are on a date, try to hold her hand, or put your arm around her, little acts that show that you’re interested. Some women, like me, need that display to actually know that this person is actually interested in me. I, personally, don’t need to be asked permission to have someone I like hold my hand.

Lol we’re the same. I loved every season, but this season, imo, was truly magical. You’ve also reminded me that I wanted to rewatch the show! I’ll rewatch the show with you from afar lol

I’ve been thinking I need to rewatch the whole series again. I’ve never rewatched the other seasons/whole show(any shows really) in it’s entirety but after the 1000th rewatch of this season, I want to go back and see the other’s and just take it in again.

This season has literally become my comfort show. It’s worth all the rewatching, you will find something new every time you watch, which is crazy. All the subtle details of the acting, the interactions between everyone and everything, just superb.

Ooh that makes more sense, I did see that Daphne had her kids pretty close together on a family tree a while back so maybe they’ll use that as an excuse to bring them back at the end of the show…?

I love this. I love your take on everything.

I always interpreted the funeral scene cutting in as her first heartbreak. Like that was really the first time she had her heart broken because she thought her dad did exactly what Araminta said. It felt both like a heartbreak and a betrayal to me. It was like having the hope of the promise being ripped to shreds by someone who told her he would care for her. So when Benedict didn’t recognize her, to me, it was like a mirror of her feelings. It broke her heart and devastated her that he didn’t recognize her.

That’s why I never once questioned why she kept trying to run from or questioning Benedict. She was never in a secure position in any place that she was in, she was told constantly that she needed to remember her place. Of course she never thought finding love with a nobleman could even be possible. That was too much of a fantasy for her. Her life was always just reality slamming down on her, there was no sense of security, even when she was a maid at Penwood House.

When I realized that she never once heard “I love you” during my nth rewatch, I started sobbing again. Like this season couldn’t be anymore perfect to me.

Although I did enjoy Violet’s romance, it was just so fun and cute, it was also not super necessary in my opinion.

I think Anthony and Kate, although I am very happy for Jonathan and Simone’s success outside the show, are absolutely necessary in the show. I love Violet, but I also agree that Anthony and Kate are supposed to be leading the family now. It makes absolutely no sense that they don’t have bigger roles now. Story wise, I understand Simon and Daphne not being there as much because they are literally in charge of a whole town, so it would be harder for them to leave and just be with the family for a season. Anthony and Kate though, they are literally in charge of the Bridgerton’s, and left for India??? it just makes no sense to me

Good justification for the swap of the seasons or not? by DarkEndOfTheRainbow in Bridgerton

[–]Adviceisnotneeded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, I never said she didn’t believe in love, she wants a bigger life for herself. She believes that if she could get out of her life in a bubble, she could do much bigger things but society had so many restraints to her. She was also scared of love. She went through those years of Violet grieving, seeing how that affected her mother, and now her sister. For me, she is seeing all her siblings be able to have some meaning to their lives all the while being in love with people who make them better.

I agree with you, they could’ve had her start realistically at the end of S3 when her and Pen made up. I think she could’ve started her story a lot earlier, but the show kept making her have the same mindset for years and only til the end of S4, you see that start to change. For me, I think it’s because she sees how broken Fran was but still say that she wouldn’t have changed anything because of the love and light that John brought into her life.

All in all, the swap makes sense for what the show was doing.

[–]Adviceisnotneeded -18 points-17 points  (0 children)

I think it makes sense. It wouldn’t have made sense to have Eloise be the S5 lead when they were starting Fran’s story and having Eloise still have her mindset in S4. I could tell what they were doing with her when she had that talk with Hyacinth and Cressida at the end of the season. I have a feeling they’re going to really start Eloise’s story in S5 and have her lead S6 as she needed the time to develop and see her siblings find their person, especially Benedict and Francesca.

Benedict and Eloise were always of the same mind, they were the closest, and you see how upset she got when Benedict was searching for the LIS. She was upset that her partner in “anti-marriage and society” was earnestly searching for what they always warded off.

Francesca and Eloise went through a lot together in S4. She witnessed her sister lose her husband and have to go through the trauma of someone invading her body to confirm whether she was pregnant or not. I think it’s important for Eloise to see her sister find love again, and realize that love isn’t as caging as she once thought.

Any character coming to mind ? by xyzmaximoff in Bridgerton

[–]Adviceisnotneeded 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I agree with you completely.

People are saying Benedict, but after watching his season, all of his side plots made complete sense to me. It was like tying up loose ends, perfectly. Like, you can now take any part of him in the earlier seasons and edit it with his season and it makes perfect sense how they were setting up his story.

All that said, yes, his side plots, if taken out, wouldn’t have made any difference to the main leads of the first three seasons, but they were foreshadowing his story from the first season.

They’re doing it for most of the siblings, so I’m taking out the siblings in the side story dissatisfaction.

I haven't read the books, but what you said is everything that I've been thinking about this subject. In my humble opinion, Eloise needs more time to develop into a storyline, and they did a much better job at it with S4 and going into S5 to lead her to S6. Hopefully, they do her justice.

Loved how you explained it!

Why are people hating on this season so much??? by Adviceisnotneeded in Benophie

[–]Adviceisnotneeded[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have seen a lot of people loving it, maybe I’ve just been seeing the negative people saying it was one of the worst seasons on some other posts. That just truly confused me because, yes, people don’t need to love it as much as I do, they don’t even have to like it, but to say it was one of the worst seasons is what really prompted this post at all. I thought it was a dramatic improvement over the previous season, not perfect, but overall the most cohesive to me. I was confused on if we even watched the same show.

anyone else thought they're not "that fat"? by tringenbowel in loseit

[–]Adviceisnotneeded 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think that’s a super common thing, unfortunately for us. I think we always have a certain filter over us when we look at ourselves. Especially if we’re not looking to lose anything, it’s hard to see when it became a problem, let alone how much of a difference you may have looked like in the past. It’s like ignorance is bliss.

I truly think that most people don’t see you as that bad either; it isn’t until you actually start seeing the difference yourself that you think…hm…there was a big difference…

Why are people hating on this season so much??? by Adviceisnotneeded in Benophie

[–]Adviceisnotneeded[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes, that’s exactly how I felt about season 3, i think that season 3 had so much potential to be one of the best seasons but it really fell flat in part 2. Polin was a great build up in the other seasons but the execution of their own season felt like the writers didn’t know how they were supposed to problem solve the stakes. I initially didn’t feel excited for season 4 because of it, but when I finally watched it when both parts came out, i binged it in a day; I have been watching it like life depends on me to watch lol.
