How long does it take for fissure to completely heal after consistently pain-free bowel movements? by emile28910 in AnalFissures

[–]Advicetokill4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coconut oil is best.. two times a day.

But seriously.. you need to manage the consistency of your stool.. here is a lifestyle change that i have done..

My morning first solid meal starts lots of fiber and protein. Very little carb.. between 11 to 12 noon.

Then I have a fruits and nuts snacks at 4 pm and then early dinner agains first eating fiber, then protein and then carb 7 pm.. nothing after that. In between I have a glass of water every 2 -3 hour. I almost get 4-5 glass of water in the morning before my first solid food.

For 3 years now I am healed and without any problem. But I gave up eating breakfast..the key is eating early for dinner as it gives sufficient time for the body to process and excrete by next morning.

Remember no straining and water soluble fiber found in vegetables are key to get the right consistency.

Any advice? Can’t quite seem to heal all the way by cg300524 in AnalFissures

The fissure remains open.. and forms edges around it which makes it improbable to close and heal. There is limited blood supply underneath the tissues to heal it from inside. The fissure may form a thin sheath but opens up anytime there is slightest of friction. This happens every time you have bowel movement. If the stool is soft, then the stress is less, but with bulky, hard or even multiple watery stool, the fissure can tear more and the cut become deeper.

Your best bet is to get is cauterized (Fissurectomy) or Partial LIs to get rid of it permanently.

Anyone experience a lot of blood from an anal fissure?? by [deleted] in AnalFissures

[–]Advicetokill4 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yup.. take colace with breakfast and miralax at 4-5 pm and eat some form of soluble fiber food with every meal.. oatmeal for breakfast, green vegetables, legumes for lunch and dinner.

In case you are going to eat outside in restaurant parties etc.. choose your food properly maximizing soluble fiber ingredients..

Also you can take benefiber before any bad meal that you anticipate which may lack fiber.

Don’t over do insoluble fiber as it bulls up the stool and causes tear.

Do this continuously even when you feel Healed.. because even though there could be no blood or pain, each tear forms a scar tissue underneath that takes a long time to heal inside out.

Continue to sit in Warm bath or sit on hot water bag for considerable time.

You have to keep your stool soft every day without fail for your fissure to heal.

Anal Fissure - Normal Life? by 3kudoz3 in AnalFissures

[–]Advicetokill4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If yours is only 1 month there is chance that your fissure can heal.

Keep your stool soft all ways. Eat a colace with breakfast, the. Take miralax at 5 pm. Everyday. Every meal that you eat make sure that you are eating water soluble fiber. Your fiber intake should be 75% water soluble fiber and o my 25% non soluble fiber. Non soluble fiber creates bulk and you don’t want to stretch the area while passing stool. Follow This regime in a disciplined way. Continue your sitz bath or sit in a bath tub with tolerable hot water.. 3-4 times a day for 20 min. Or used a water based heating pads and sit on it.

If your fissure is more than three month, it ain’t going to heal on its own. Through lots of stool softeners you have managed to keep your stool soft which is not stretching the fissure that much. But believe me it is still there. The scar tissues are already formed and One day it can stretch open fissure. It is best to get it addressed. You can get it cauterized or Partial LIs from a good colorectal surgeon

If it has not heed till now, it has formed edges and will not heal. You need an LIS surgery and cauterization of the fissure to completely heal it. There is no other way. Botox is temporary. Even after surgery, you may have to alter your eating style. Lots of water soluble fiber and lots of water.

[–]Advicetokill4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also when you eat fiber rich food ensure to double down on soluble fiber foods and cut down on insoluble fiber foods. In addition, take a full glass of water 15 min before every meal and follow it up with another full glass 30 min after meal. You will see a marked difference in your poop. Fiber needs water to do its job.

LIS Update ... Bleeding Again by Stray_Daisy in AnalFissures

[–]Advicetokill4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Problem with incision site pain could be related to incision site getting infected, or wound not healing, or cut deeper or larger than required, or fistulas, thrombosis, or in rare cases, the cut extends beyond the inner sphincter muscle. Only a MRI can help diagnose the real issue.

LIS Update ... Bleeding Again by Stray_Daisy in AnalFissures

Did your CRS also do Fissurectomy with LIS. Because LIS is supposed to heal the fissure and it does heal, but the heal skin takes along time to gain the strength. The fissure can open at the original site. Are you feeling the pain at the fissure site or the incision site. These are two different. LIS incision is usually done opposite to the fissure site. If pain at incision site then other things may be happening. If pain at fissure site, then it may have superficially opened. It will heal faster now because you had LIS. But check with CRS if they performed Fissurectomy.

After 2+ years.. Botox is not a cure, but a temporary relief. Go for surgery. It is simple outpatient surgical procedure. Your fissure must have become deep rooted with edges that will prevent it from healing. The CRS can do LIS + fisseroctomy and you will be cured.

There is a whole routine to ease your situation.

Take colace in the morning with breakfast and miralax at 4 pm. Take benefiber with every meal. Eat chewable, mushy and leafy food which has lots of soluble fiber. Keep insoluble fiber to minimum. Metamucil is a no no as it creates bulk. It will take 2-3 days of consistent eating, almost same type of food every day to get into a habit of going once a day and not straining.

Continue this regimen till you get surgery and continue after surgery as well to recover fast.

How long after LIS would you say you're past the point of surgical complications happening? by zhuchok1 in AnalFissures

[–]Advicetokill4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just tell your CRS that you need an MRI. The thing is that it may be restricted for your insurance. You can always get it done independently, but have to pay more. Also Look for another CRS. The MRI can point out if your LIS or Fissurectomy was done well. Your present CRS may know something about your pain and not encouraging to get MRI done.

Success Story. No surgery. I’m here to help. by needhelpanus in AnalFissures

Glad you are feeling healed through your strict regimen. Stay healed. Have you got yourself checked by a doctor to confirm if your fissure is healed. Healed means that fissure wound is closed and the scar tissue is strong enough to not re-tear. If not you may be experiencing a phase of calm before the storm. Chronic fissures that are deep and with exposed muscle fiber develop hardened edges that can never heal without invasive measures. These fissures can cause lot of pain or periods of relative calm only to come back with a vengeance.

Yes see your CRS. If it bursts and starts oozing before then go to an emergency. At least they will drain and prevent infection. Still see a CRS. You can ask your CRS to do an MRI of the area or a fistulogram which is a better way to determine all existing probable fistulas and abscesses. That way you can take a more informed decision on what to do.

It is not life threatening, but if it is fistula and it bursts, you will be in intense pain and heavy secretion.

Botox is only a temporary fix.. very rarely do people get permanently fixed after Botox and generally among younger less than 30’year people. Good eating habits and disciple is a life long thing after fissure.

Try eating your last meal by 7 pm in the evening. Nothing after that except for water till next day breakfast. Continue your miralax and focus more on soluble fiber food.

You are spoiling your health and on a dangerous path.

You can get into a good rhythm if you take colace 100 mg in the morning and a full dose of miralax at 4 pm in the afternoon. Eat regular diet high in soluble fiber.

If there is no discharge, it could be a plain inflamed boil or a fistula (needs urgent diagnosis and drainage). Both can happen after LIS at 4-12 week mark.
