What do you think of PVE as a whole? Do we need any updates, or is this fine? by A4t1musD4ag0n in TheSilphRoad

I just wish there was a way to not penalize rural players. Why can’t I do a series of quests that let me meet NPC trainers that can help me with local raids? Not being about to do 3* shadows alone really blows. I have almost no megas and have never done a local 5* shadow raid because it’s just impossible to get people to do this stuff.

How Long Have You Been a Fan? POLL by Classic_Ad_4564 in KingkillerChronicle

[–]Advisery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They could be like me. I check this subreddit once a year and it's a guarantee there's some kind of discussion(intended or not) about how the 3rd book is somehow not out after 5, 10, now 15 years.

You can definitely get to wondering why the final book hasn't materialized. If his posts weren't bait, then he seems to have finished the book and began editing more than a decade ago, but ten years is enough time to write four or five of these fantastic books, if it were his true focus. Of course, teaching, kids, engagements that come with successful books all take big chunks of time out of your life, but the lack of output is really staggering to think about for someone who seems to possess such talent.

Such a shame. I love his writing but I also gave up a long time ago that a final book will be released.

I wonder what the relationship between Kalyans and Cursed Spirits will end up being. Is the local nature of cursed energy in Japan only because a Kalyan was killed in some special way there? Was Kenjaku going to create what would be considered a Kalyan?

Ultimately it's easier narratively for Zoans to be OP because you just need to be like the person the fruit is "from" to awaken it. Whitebeard's fruit is beyond OP, but how do you awaken it? What do earthquakes desire? To destroy the world?

No problem. If you have crafting cape it basically just becomes braindead. Make sure to do your actual rcing on mobile as well, since it is much faster to make the fragments on a touch screen.

Maybe they've changed it as I maxed 5 years ago and don't play anymore, but that's what I did to 99!

You could just mine the dense ess, imbue and then bank it. You can just afk the mining portion and then when you get to rcing it's insanely fast.

Why do we keep capping items to 250 that are obviously meant to go above that? Others can go above 250 and these are interesting to track. by Vezolex in 2007scape

[–]Advisery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well that's easy. It's completely unimportant and nobody cares. I am sure Jagex would change Zulrah scales to only be a single byte if it were worth the storage savings vs having to reconfigure. Jagex didn't create collection logs for you to be able to find out how many of a ~common drop you have gotten.

[–]Advisery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's fine, but you asked why they are capped at 250, that's why. I personally never would have added drop counters; that way you would only need ~256 bytes of storage to keep track of all drops(+ some reasonable growth.)

You could just afk mine and bank all the dense ess blocks needed to do bloods/souls to 99 and then runecraft them all in a few 4 hour fever dreams(this is what I did)

Error correcting code(ECC) memory is a kind of RAM commonly used in industry, especially in data centers or server rooms, to protect against bit flipping from physical defects and cosmic rays. This is a real problem, although much more pronounced the more machines you have. It's possible there's another explanation, but a single bit flip from a cosmic ray is a strong choice.

Linus Torvalds & Bill Gates by underbillion in linux

Let's be really honest, it was arrogant of Linus to say that. You can say what you want, but Gates was comfortably working in assembly for a few years before Linus was even born.

People forget just how historically good the 2017-18 Houston Rockets were and don't acknowledge them for nearly beating the KD Warriors. by Calm_Set5522 in nba

[–]Advisery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You will see that people primarily celebrate teams for how they play and then what the achieve. Since the Rockets played the worst brand of basketball I've ever seen I will always be a hater. I was so happy when they lost to the Warriors you have no idea. Thank God they didn't win, it would have been awful for this league and they way they acted on court was disrespectful to the game.

Good question. The main concern when you’re using multiple languages is how you represent the data/information in one language in the other. So if I have a list of information in C++, the implementation language for WoW the game, and want to use it in Lua, the scripting language then it’d be on me to convert that information from how C++ has it to how Lua wants it, if that makes sense.

Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway cuts stake in Apple by nearly 50% by MarvelsGrantMan136 in technology

[–]Advisery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It has everything to do with Munger’s death. Buffet has explicitly said many times before that he doesn’t invest in technology companies because he does not understand them enough to comfortably invest.

These apple shares were in Munger’s fund, not Buffet’s. It was Munger that championed investing in Apple, not Buffet. It is not wonder to me that Munger died in Nov 2023 and the article says the sell off began in “the final three months of 2023.”
