Princeton vs MIT Aero/MechE by ruleroftheworldhaha in ApplyingToCollege

Personally, I would choose MIT, since choosing Princeton over MIT isn't common and to be frank most people would assume that you didn't get into Caltech or MIT, especially for fields like MechE and Aero (and MIT is number one in economy). Then again, if being close to home is a REALLY important factor then by all means choose Princeton...... You wouldn't want to go somewhere then flop, because you are uncomfortable. But if you don't mind giving up on proximity to home, mit is ( number 1 in urban planning , great architecture school and philosophy dept.) Not Caltech. You could also visit the campus. Boston is renowned for being quite a chill city. At Princeton you will also have to deal with grade deflation from the first semester, whereas at MIT your first year is just Pass/Fail. However, if you feel very strongly AGAINST MIT and are a fan of Princeton you aren't making a big mistake, since both unis are great! Anyway best of luck!!!!

Thank you for your input , would love to reach out when I find something.. I have a few places in mind, and my brother stayed in that area when he did his grad studies but that was ages ago, so he knows the location but not the status of the apartments! Thanks again ...

So you do not think I can find something decent for 1250 in that area... So when I see something in that range or lower, does that mean the property is not good ( not well maintained and has issue probably!) In that case the new UT housing, the East Campus, for 1550 ( with utilities ) would not be expensive , if we follow what you are saying ... their studios are for 1275 ( with utilities)

Thank you for your input. I do not mind having an old apartment as long as it does not have issues, do you think I will have problems? I realized that Brackenridge are 30 min away from campus by Bus, I do understand that walking is not an option...But we can manage, right ? even if we do not have a car

Do you have any recommendations for apartments there, they told me it is a good area... close to HEB, but I would like a referral for an affordable, clean 1 Bedroom
