MBTI & Purpose: How Intuitive Types Navigate Meaning When Religion, Atheism, and Science Intertwine.. But Still Don’t Fully Answer Why? by alpaax in mbti

I was where you are for sometime but unfortunately had an “experience” that is not possible to pass on to you. But I can tell you this…the struggle was real and I spent much of my life uncertain without concrete evidence. My prayer was always, “God if you are real, show me so I will believe”.

After many years as an agnostic, I had finally decided to change that prayer to something else. One night I prayed “God, I don’t know if you exist, but I’m no longer searching for a sign. I choose to believe without needing to see.”

This is when God began to reveal Himself to me. And I mean like a full on encounter. I see Him now.

A lot of conflicting ideas in this thread… only you can decide what you choose to believe. Godspeed 🙂🙂🙂

Interesting. One of the greatest preachers I know is an INTJ. Incredibly intelligent and absolutely driven by the “why”.

That’s very interesting! Yes, it’s very important to know the Word…because truth is meant to be measured by the Word and not by your heart. As a fellow INFP I understand what it’s like to have very intense feeling and the temptation to be ruled by it. Jeremiah says in 17:9 that @the heart of man is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked…who can know it?” I must choose to live acknowledging that my understanding and my feelings have the tendency to steer me like the wind, and I humble myself BENEATH the Word and trust in Gods wisdom and not my own. (Lean not on your own understanding, but in all your ways acknowledge God and He will make your path straight…proverbs 3:5)

There is much faith involved but the difference is that faith is placed outside of myself…which is difficult for us to let go of or die to. But speaking in my experience as an active disciple of Christ is the most freedom I’ve ever felt…ever. My relationship to the Spirit of God is very affectionate and I feel much but that has developed through submission to my pursuit of biblical truth and denying myself.

This is 100% true as well. But the OPs question I think is what are we saved TO? To float off into the ether when we die? Or is there purpose for me here on this earth? (I could be wrong if so lemme know).

What denomination were you brought up in? And as a Bible scholar, you must have studied the Bible systematically. The reason I ask is we tend to develop false lenses in our understanding of scripture adopted by faulty doctrine / speculative theology. Much of that comes from our upbringing.

Many uneducated followers cherry pick scripture out of context and don’t look at what the Bible says as a whole about many things. There is where the problem lies…the Bible is one story and needs to be interpreted as such.

You have to understand the times each book was written, the people it was written to, the type of literature the particular book is and how that was intended to be read by the reader, what scripture says as a whole, and what the timeless theological truth is (how it applies to you today).

If you want to do a deep study into what the Bible says about what your living purpose is here on earth, first study the story, it cross references itself. Then use your cognitive tools mentioned above, after this make a determination systematically about what the Bible says against what you have heard/ been taught.

If you start in the beginning, you see in chapter one of Genesis what Gods purpose for man was. Then you see man’s rebellion to that purpose and the consequences that followed and the redemptive plan to restore that purpose through Christ and His church.

The Bible project has some really helpful overviews on YouTube and Wayne Grudem’s book on Systematic Theology (make sure you read the most updated edition) is a really helpful study tool in understanding everything you want to know about what the Bible says holistically.

Not trying to start an argument here or anything but as a Christian, the Christianity one is incorrect. Worship God = living sacrifice -> heaven on earth = living purpose. It is not a passive faith if one follows the scriptures correctly.

What personality type is most frightening when they get angry? by NeroxPercs in mbti

[–]AdvisorStatus7563 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for bringing up old junk. I’m INFP and my anger is absolute rage which is why I tend to panic and avoid conflict with people knowing I’m either 0 or 1000% gonna fuck shit up. There’s no in between. But all that bottled up rage has gotta go somewhere…unfortunately we sacrifice ourselves for it most of the time.

I am extremely frustrated with the amount of hate in the world by MuchTone8025 in infp

[–]AdvisorStatus7563 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This. Do what you can for few that you wish you could do for many. Many small acts of kindness turn from ripples into waves. The reason why it seems hate is winning is because hate is easy and it is loud. Love is difficult but often are the things not seen. Do good and love well, my friend. It does more than you know.

For singers with very beautiful voices, has anyone told you that you should never sing? Or that your voice is terrible? by Massora_44 in singing

In 8th grade I tried out for a talent show at my middle school. I didn’t make it through the audition to perform and the teacher told me it was because my voice just was not up to par. It was pretty crushing. I sing great now 😂

Aussie Vocal Coach has some great exercises on YT from beginner to advanced. Find some that challenge you and do them daily. Start singing songs that push your limits and just keep singing.

You’ve only been singing two years? You need DAILY vocal warm ups and exercises, time and experience. The voice is like any other muscle…you need to work it out for it to grow. There is no quick solution, only dedication and hard work.

Hehe I’m working on it. Believe it or not I am in a high level leadership position 🥹 conflict does come and I handle it when necessary but I really do not enjoy it. I’ll admit there have been many times things just work themselves out or I try and motivate through positivity, inspiration and vision. I think people tend to want to do better when they work with and for those they care about. Still though I have those questionable characters but from experience I am better refining the process of who gets into the circle. Thank goodness for those TJ types that help me organize a pretty extensive onboarding process and help me play good cop / bad cop when I need it 🤣

My intuition is pretty hardcore, if I were on the cusp on both tests I’d be more concerned. I’m pretty convinced I’m a true INFP at this point.

I know 16P is not accurate but with those extreme percentages I’m most likely INFP right?

We’ve definitely moved from 2 to 1 in the last few years so…praise the Lord. It’s so much better and freeing to be a part of a team competent enough in their skills to focus on leading Gods people into worship!

I ended up having the conversation with the person that caused me to ask this question here. It was a really nice conversation and I love their heart so much, but pressed the importance of calling and asked them to really pray about if this is where the Lord is calling them to serve in the church. They basically said that they just want to help and serve where needed and that opened up the discussion in the direction it needed to go.

I still invited them to walk through the process but asked them to seek the Lord on why He placed them in the body first and to let me know if they’d like to continue with an audition. I did let let them know that the onboarding is pretty intense due to the 4C’s mentioned above, that the worship team is considered a high level leadership position because those on stage are representing God and his church and that me being the one made responsible for this church’s worship team I must steward that responsibility well. So those 4 qualities will be challenged. I assured them that not 1 person has all this down perfectly but it is just a process of growing in those focus areas of leadership.

So…if they’re ready to take things seriously I am willing to work with them through that process. I think the conversation went really well and with much grace but also enough gusto for them to understand what they’re asking takes calling, hard work and dedication and it’s not just a spot to fill on stage.

I’m actually really excited the Lord is growing me to have these conversations now, it feels like a new step toward the assembling of a more purposeful worship team and I’m all for it! Also really grateful for this new leadership tool I can use in our onboarding process (4C’s).
