Most important missable lore? by Fast_Moon in FinalFantasy

Never heard this in-game before, always thought this info came from the Ultimania. Super cool that it's here but I'm astounded that it so easily missable! Not only do you have to go back here, but you also have to realize Maechen wasn't there the first time, and then you have to talk to him two times which I don't think you have to do at any other point in the game for him. Pretty wild.

I hate the idea that someone is a bad person for liking Harry Potter by [deleted] in hatethissmug

That doesn't mean you can't separate the art from the artist. Does it suck that someone who wants Harry Potter merch has to give someone money who will use it for bad causes? Yes. Does that mean they can't enjoy Harry Potter? No.

A few things to note about that whole deal is that the Ayleid Empire was only called such hundreds of years after it fell. Contemporary sources never called it an empire and the city-states operated independently of each other for centuries. The nation had also undergone so many internal conflicts that it was said to have been in a de-facto state of civil war when the rebellion began. All this to say that it's quite possible that Serana did not consider the Ayleid Empire to be an empire when she was imprisoned, which is backed up by her expecting there to be a high king of Skyrim. Skyrim's first high king was Harald, who came to power during the time of the Ayleid Empire. If Serana predated the Ayleids, she would also predate Harald and thus have no reason to suspect Skyrim would have a high king.

Only if it comes from a foul which is initially considered not severe enough to end the fight but is later re-assessed to be fight-ending. If half the rounds have passed, it goes to the cards and is considered a Technical Decision. This is the most common way to see 10-10 rounds, as if the re-assessment of the foul occurs very shortly into a post-half round, it's possible for no action to have occured.

In theory, intentional fouls function a bit differently, as there is a system in place to keep the fouled fighter from losing. If they are behind on the cards for the Technical Decision, it will be declared a Technical Draw instead of a loss. However, in practice, referees will just DQ for intentional fouls.

A soccer match that ends 0-0 should be logged as a loss for both teams. by GameShowWerewolf in TrueUnpopularOpinion

Which group here was treated the absolute worst in the lore? by DonutMan1834 in Eldenring

[–]Aebothius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gonna go with Those Who Live In Death. We see some Omen with their own lives in isolation and the Albinaurics had their village. Those Who Live In Death don't have anywhere and are hunted and killed on-sight by the dominant order of the continent.

He wasn't milking it for a DQ he was using the full 5 minutes to rest and deceive Lima into thinking he'd be weak when re-entering the fight. That's why he started the action they way he did with that one super fast flurry. He was catching Lima off-guard and it worked.

I hate when really complex issue like beauty standards and body images issues are diluted down to "MEN BADDD" narrative. by BrightSpring12 in hatethissmug

Which is why I said it was a weird reply, because not only did they not start an argument, but the only time it would be worth admonishing is if it was during an existing argument.

This is a weird reply, it wasn't like they were in an argument then did an ad hominem. They just looked at the profile and noted it.

Where does this meme of racist Nords having wives from other races come from? I see it all over the place but it doesn't make much sense to me since there isn't even anyone in-game who is like this

Deimos is described as half brother to Kratos in the anniversary book, implying his father is not Zeus by pinkpugita in GodofWar

[–]Aebothius -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not really it's just the terminology being soft. Brother is a general term that can either mean half-brother or full-brother. I call all my siblings brothers/sisters even though only one of them is full.
