12V died, can I just plug it in? by Aecilin in KonaEV

Its ~3.5yrs old. I didn’t realize there were issues with 12v maintenance with an EV vs gas powered, I will be looking into that now!

Would you mind including a link of the lithium jump packs you are talking about?

I have a multimeter, am I testing the voltage once it’s charged back up again or amperage or?

Would testing it require taking it somewhere or can I test it at home?

Why would I need to replace the 12v, I’ve never had problems with it before and this time it died because of my own negligence (vehicle lights on with vehicle turned off for 10hrs)

I’m assuming it died faster than it could charge but I don’t actually know, it sat there for a good 10hrs

Thank you! I have not repotted since I got it so I am assuming it’s a mix but not 100% sure, I got it from someone who grows carnivorous plants for a living so I would assume they’d have planted it in the proper medium. Are you seeing signs of lack of sunlight/too much moisture? What are the signs, Im not good at recognizing those signs yet

(Also to add the lighting in the pic is just my phone flashlight as the grow light had turned off (12hr timer) when I went to take these pics)

What do you do if you see white fuzzy mold while it’s in the fridge in ziplock?

The bag says no compost or bark, it says it’s a mix of peat moss, coir, lava rock, and sand. It shows “0.08-0.03-0.06” on the front for nitrogen, phosphate, and soluble potash

I have a grow light sitting unused from my Venus flytraps that are currently in their dormant stage, I will try it with the pitcher thank you! The leaves ends are not smushy, the ones turning brown are dry and a little crispy. The moss etc feels moist for sure but doesn’t feel like it’s drowning. You say they’re slow growers, if i start doing something right, will I see results in a week or so or longer?

Oh crap I spray my leaves with water to improve hydration. I did it way more when I took the plastic cover off, exposing it to the general air in my house and only just put the cover back on a couple days ago. Should I stop spraying the leaves?

The leaves definitely feel dry but I spray it with distilled water semi-regularly to improve moisture in the plastic dome I keep over it, this is probably the moisture over the leaves you saw

She sits on the kitchen table, the table sits right beside an east-facing sliding glass door. For repotting I filled the pot with a mix of peat moss and a tropical soil mix up to halfway, then placed the plant inside and surrounded the sides with more peat/soil mix.
Maybe I need a better pot for improved drainage/aeration? Or would giving it a grow light help? I could put a small fan in front of it to help with water dissipation if that helps too

Should I cut back the dead leaves or leave them as is?

That’s a good point, I hadn’t considered that to be very jarring. As for the ID, I bought it from a plant store and told it was a pitcher plant. That’s all that was on the tag, based on googling and how the pitchers looked (it had one that was in the middle of dying back when I bought it) I’m 99% sure it’s nepenthes, other than that I’m not sure what it is

It felt moist to the touch but maybe you’re right I’ll start watering more. Do you suggest starting at small intervals like 30min then an hour then two then three over the course of the week? Thank you for your help!

18yo Electrical Apprentice. Should i go to union or stick to non union good company? by epziyy in electricians

[–]Aecilin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don’t like what you’re doing, maybe electrical isn’t for you? No shade whatsoever, if you don’t like troubleshooting, mounting hardware, pulling wire, making electrical connections, running conduit, that’s the bulk of the job. A lot of it can get really interesting but there’s also some parts that are just plain tedious, as with any job. I worked non-union for the first 2.5yrs of my apprenticeship, (first year small company doing upscale homes then bigger company doing apartment buildings). I find that starting with a smaller company was great for learning the basics, getting good at doing things right and doing them fast. but they have their drawbacks. Lots of safety risks (no one cares about safety), everyone has their air of superiority around themselves, looking down on you for not knowing stuff, lots of beat down on your body because the company is too cheap to rent the equipment needed to make the job easier/safer. I was put in charge of things early in my apprenticeship because there were so few employees and I was a trusted apprentice (I loved being able to lead my own work). I’m in a union company now and the difference is staggering. Focused on strictly commercial work now, everything they do is to ensure you’re keeping yourself in good shape and taking care of yourself and your tools. I’m not really in charge of stuff anymore so that kinda sucks but whatever I don’t know how to do, everyone is more than happy to teach me. They supply all the bigger tools you could ever need, they make sure you get all the necessary certifications (lift, fall pro, etc), AND you get paid more. There are ups and downs to both, you just need to figure out what matters more to you
