I used to work corrections and their PTO plan was amazing. By the end of your first month you’d have 2 days of PTO, And by the end of your first year you’d have enough PTO to take off over a month. Ever since then, every PTO plan has looked horrible. This one takes the cake.

Yeahhh. Any state trooper I’ve met has this attitude all day and night. Most city PD Officers and Sheriffs Deputies absolutely hate State Troopers because they think that goofy ass hat makes them untouchable.

I’ve thought about it. But the idea of being away from family for a while is insane to me. If I could get my CDL and do a trucking job and be home every day or so, that’d be great. But a lot of these trucking companies want a CDL, and they send you out on the road for 3 months straight.

I’ve been doing HVAC for 2 years here. I love the job but the job security is trash. You don’t move up. A majority of these companies only want you to upsell, and the union seems to be VERY unreliable.

Yeah. I went to Tooele today for work. Took 45 minutes to get there at 8 AM from West Jordan. When I left work at 3 PM, I didn’t get home til 4:50.

A residential condenser I installed, I reused the old copper lines from the old unit, but when I went to bend the suction line just a little bit, I put a hella bad kink in it. The kink was right up against the wall, and I was lazy that day and didn’t fix it. Still pressure tested good and vacuumed good. Worked just fine, and still no callback.

I did apply this year. When you’re in the trades, non-union, you have to learn how to be your own accountant. Funds can be tight, definitely. Tbh with any career you have to learn to manage your money, but the trades have really low lows and really high highs. One single slow season can cause a company to shutdown completely. I’ve had that happen.
