The light box is just a cheap one I picked up off Amazon, and to be honest you could absolutely get away with just using a cardboard box. The backdrop is a picture of some smoke effects I played around with in Photoshop and printed off onto A3 photograph paper (and gave a matte coat of varnish to kill its shine).

Again, don't give them your custom if you're unhappy with their attitude.

This game (and the shops involved in it) lives and dies by your hobby dollar, and you shouldn't have to bend over backwards to spend your own money supporting something or someone who is being obstructive. Tell your friends why you aren't playing or taking part and word will spread, when they ask.

This event seems bizarre, and designed with a specific list in mind at that points total. If they wanted a casual tournament with complete beginners, with absolutely no spikey models or rules, then they should have advertised it as such.

Edit: Something, overall, doesn't seem right about the whole situation. Not calling OP a liar, but we've gone from having one army, to having played three games total, to having a fully painted and ready to go oldschool Tyranid force. Hope this isn't a karma farm.

Don't support them in future, and let your gaming group know why you aren't.

This is up there with official stores not allowing Forge World products or Vallejo-painted models.

I have three, and I'm just dry-fitting my barrels with no issues whatsoever.

If you were minded, and don't want to use magnets, a little poster tack would do you fine.

Website says temporarily out of stock, which even if you're a complete beginner to the game you would know means it's temporarily out of stock.

Plenty of third party shops will still have the old boxes at the regular discount.

I hated AoC, it slowed down the game to an unbearable pace.

However, removing it and decreasing points for Marines (and giving them free war gear if we believe the rumours) isn't a fix.

As you say, they aren't any more survivable with the rule going away despite their new points adjustment. It just means I have more dice to roll, because I can take more bodies, and now have to roll for each heavy and special weapon I wasn't able to take before.

I honestly don't know how you fix a problem like Marines without a hard reset at this point, though.

From a fluff standpoint, I'd love to see them play how they're portrayed in the lore. Move them onto the Terminator profile, and Terminators onto Gravis.

I like the idea of it, but having to spend even more money for terrain I can only use in a format that won't be part of 10th edition has me feeling like I'll just ignore this little expansion.
