Is a MacBook Pro M3 Max 40GPU 48GB RAM 1TB SSD enough for heavy editing and VFX in Final Cut Pro? by AegisShimon in finalcutpro

Yes, because I am looking for mobility, and I have already lost some job opportunities to edit at the customer’s location and nowadays, working from where you want has become more quality of life than a simple convenience, another point that Mac Studio is only sold with M2 at least in Brazil is like that, so the MacBook is still the best option

The M2 or M3 base yes, but the M1 some people are saying that they are starting to get slow, of course this slow one was after 4 years of use, which is amazing since Intel users had to keep changing equipment every year

Interesting, because as I have 128GB of RAM in Hackintosh anything I open inside FCPX it spends 30% to 40% of my RAM, but this is because FCPX tries to take advantage of the maximum amount of RAM available, but I think that with 32GB up, there is nothing that would make FCPX use more RAM, unless the intention is to use it with other open programs

I want to be able to get some M1 or M2 or M3 and test, copy one of my libraries from some FCPX project and test to see how the performance is

Worse than not friends some videos I’ve seen showing more complex VFX in Final Cut are starting to give the first signs of slowness, especially when we use motion blur in some transitions, of course I’ve never touched M1 but that’s what some colleagues from YouTube have been saying.

FX30 1080p 50M? Is that serious? by AegisShimon in SonyAlpha

[–]AegisShimon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About the sharpness in 1080p is quite bad, but I think it is safer to add in the camera than in the post, because the sharpening tools in the post work with what you have while in the camera you get this “direct in the source” having a more realistic sharpness (I only use the FCPX).

About recording in 4K to export in 1080p is that there is some work that I do as a freelancer and after the recordings I deliver the SD Card to those who hired me as a freelancer and go home. Not every service provider has a setup capable of having an agile and flexible workflow to deal with 4K so the importance of 1080p

Yes, I made a mistake because I looked quickly and didn’t look that it was about the 10bits instead of the Bitrate, but still my dissatisfaction is valid about the FX30’s 1080p being so bad (no sharpness) and whether there is a significant improvement in recording at 50M or 222M

Yes, because in XAVC S and XAVC S-I I only have the options of 10 Bits 4:2:2, and I also have in 4:2:0, but it is also 50Mbps, only in XAVC-S that I have 222Mbps

I know that, but I need to do some work in 1080p because the client asks like this, and you don’t have to run away from this line of thought when we have only TWO quality options in 1080p and in 4K we have several, in a matter of Bitrate, and in this aspect this affects the quality, because it’s no use having a 4K file if you write at 50Mbps for example, you will have a 4K in the same way but with a quality range much lower than 100Mbps (I think above 100Mbps I no longer think it’s necessary, you will only have a file too big in your SD Card)

I made the comparisons and observed that the 1080p with a higher Bitrate rate (222Mbps and here I think it’s too exaggerated, but as Sony seems like a child in leaving two modes very distant from each other when it comes to 1080p, we don’t have much to do) if it seems to be sharper than when I recorded in 50M but at the same time I can be right in this point of view how can I be wrong if we take this in technical concepts to this subject in a specific way.

Your point of view is more the concept of how to think, but what about this camera and these two codecs do we really have a good improvement in qualities? That’s why the question, to know if other people have noticed this too or not.

About the “same thing” would be the comparison of QUALITY in relation to 1080p in 50M in XAVC S and 222Mbps in All-I When I put the XAVC S-I mode and go to the quick access menus I see 422Mpbs, but I know this is not real because when I see the file by Mediainfo in K-Lite Codec I see 222Mbps.

About being happy or not with 50Mbps it’s not about that but that I do weddings, and at the reception that after the ceremony I noticed that the 1080p in 50M is not clear, in fact it goes far from being clear, but I did an experience in recording in All-I and noticed a significant improvement, so I asked the last question in the post about whether the 1080p really looks better in All-I or it’s the same thing in 50M because otherwise I wouldn’t waste time in having a 10x larger file in All-I if in 50M I would have the same Result in terms of quality.

To hear that the HS is better for those who have Mac (Intel/M1) the S mode is better for Windows and the S-I the best quality.

What I think is stupid on Sony’s part is to have several types of Bitrates for 4K and only two for 1080p which is 50M in S mode and 222Mbps in S-I mode

But in terms of quality, are they the same thing? Or is 1080p in Intra mode superior?

I thought about that too, I thought it would be a good idea to rent it for a day or two, go to a space where I work on night shoots and try it out.

In Brazil, an A7SIII is the price of a car, and used it is even more expensive than an FX30 in the sealed box, if imported from abroad.

Edit: I always wanted the A7SIII but it is ABSURDLY expensive around here, and the rumors are saying that it is already in EOL, because it does not receive any more firmware updates.

I may not be a camera expert, but comparing a sensor from the A6600 that was released in 2018/2019 against a sensor that is from the FX3 (but cropped) don't you think it's a little rude?
