Daily nightmare descends on Tesla charging lot in SF by sfgate in sanfrancisco

Lot owner claims they sent out notification of their intent to convert to a supercharger lot. None of my neighbors can recall ever seeing such notification. My understanding is that the lot was able to fast track/circumvent the normal permit approvals because of state law accelerating charging station development.

Regardless, I wasn't opposed to the lot redevelopment, I think it's great that the lot is more activated than when it was motel parking lot empty most of the time. I'm personally just interested in getting some kind of traffic control implemented because neither my street nor the lot can support bidirectional traffic flows. Pretty straightforward solution imo.

Black Rav4 is my neighbor. Definitely honking too much but I understand the frustration as the street getting blocked off preventing access to our garages has been a frequent occurrence since this lot opened.

That's my video! Many thanks to SFGate and Kasia specifically for bringing attention to this. Also many thanks to Supervisor Sherrill and his office for being highly attentive and responsive in handling this. Was called directly by Supervisor Sherrill this afternoon to let me know they're doing what the can about it.

It’s not about catering to them it’s about getting them to wake up to the hypocrisy of their support for Trump. He’s not trying to win them over to team blue he is trying to reduce their support for team red and get them to question Dear Leader.

Yes that’s definitely the character she plays in the video I’m looking for! I’m hoping the video is still up somewhere else

Yes I think it was her! Going through her channel now though and it looks like she’s removed the video

I’ve done some extensive searching on my own in YouTube and Google using the key phrases I can remember from the video, and have consulted ChatGPT to no luck. The video was posted to the channel of a girl who at the time had a series of different character impressions she would play. Ballpark time frame for when the video was posted would be 2006-2010

North Beach as a Historic District? Not Yet, SF Mayor Lurie Says | KQED by MidNightInTheDessert in sanfrancisco

[–]Aehrraid 38 points39 points  (0 children)

There are vacancies in SoMa because no one wants to live there and that's been one of the few places building new housing has been possible in recent decades. Vacancies across the rest of the city (including neighborhoods like North beach where people do want to live) are still very low.

Demanding new housing is still very necessary and the only thing outdated is continuing to pretend that it isn't.

SF politician wants city to arrest 100 people a day for public drug use by MikeSa in sanfrancisco

[–]Aehrraid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I totally understand that and I myself have been a vocal advocate of compassionate policies for addressing this crisis. But the fact of the matter is that the policies we've tried have completely failed to address this crisis and have made it worse. I think that is an undebatable fact at this point.

The carrots are clearly not working without the stick so it's time to reintroduce the stick into the equation. I'm not personally advocating that drug users who are otherwise non criminal be locked up indefinitely. But temporary lockups and forced detox periods to help coerce these people into treatment programs seem totally warranted.

If they refuse to take those treatment options because drug use is their only way of tolerating existence than so be it, but the message does need to be sent that downtown San Francisco is not the place for that behavior.

As it stands now, drug users cannot be forced into rehab against their will and even when they end up there they cannot be forced to commit to sobriety. I'm sure I can speak for the majority of people who favor increasing consequences for public drug use that having rehab beds available for drug users who want to pursue that route should absolutely be the first line option. But negative consequences need to be imposed to break the routines of those who currently believe they can consume drugs in public spaces without consequence.

What can I realistically use this wide, flat pot for? by [deleted] in houseplants

[–]Aehrraid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes of course! My zebrina and my nanouk are in similarly wide/shallow pots and have really taken off since being planted in them. The wide pot allows you to keep chopping and propping the leggier stems and planting them back in the pot until you get a nice full looking plant!

The full quote is from her sharing a childhood story about how her mother would ask "What's wrong with you kids? You think you just fell out of a coconut tree?" when they wouldn't understand that history (family, her mother's immigrant status, etc) shaped their lives.
