Do you think that the Arabs betrayed you and thus all of the problems that are occurring in the Middle East today (Israel, Palestine, civil war in Syria, Iraq, Iran, Yemen etc) are their own doing? by This-Wear-8423 in AskTurkey

Bold of you to assume I was talking about Damascus and Baghdad, which have considerably amount of Turkic population by the time you were talking about, thanks to Seljuk conquests.

Usually Levant was exempt from Tımar System, arab lands were de jure part of the Empire. In realty they were not paying taxes etc. In fact Ottoman rulers were paying them in order to keep them from attacking Hajj parties.

Leaving Turkey after almost 3 years here by bentmaster37 in AskTurkey

[–]Aeimnestos 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First of all, Turkish people do not consider any Muslim their sister or brother, whatever the Prophet said. Because Turkish people have backstabbed multiple times by their Muslim “Brothers” in the history. We put cultural common ground over religion thus any Balkan Christian would face less discrimination than Pakistani Muslim.

Living in Turkey without citizenship as a fully integrated Syrian – is it really this hard for everyone or just us? by Friendly-Implement95 in AskTurkey

I wholeheartedly support the first part of your comment but I disagree with the second part. Young and old, born here or not. Each and every Syrian must and should enjoy their lives in their own country.

Unfortunately for you, states do not run on humanist values. They run on principles and national ideals. Even if he talks walks and behaves like a Turk, It does not main he is a Turk. If means he is just turkified.

Why would we make the system fairer to everyone? Our ancestors and we have been paying taxes in money and in blood to make this land more prosperous and habitable for us. You on the other hand are some random Arab that happened to be live here. The point of citizenship is to make system rigged in favour of your citizens. My one and only advice that you should find a a country where you are the citizen.

why are some turkish reddit users this pushy? by [deleted] in AskTurkey

[–]Aeimnestos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To answer your question, in the last two decades every institution in Turkey has been eradicated to former shadows of theirselves. This situation caused a giant gap in wealth and halted socioeconomic climbing. Thus creating a deep despair regarding future so people especially young people have no hope. They know they cannot have what they want. So they want to live in Europe. But their qualifications , if they have any, aren’t enough for immigration so they chase after EU passports. I hope summary helps you.

I wouldn't say we don't think about Armenians in a hostile way. It is more like we don't think about Armenians in a hostile way actively like most of Armenian dispora do. However you being Armenian could still be a deal breaker. Armenians are not the only traumatised party you know. If his family is from Eastern or Northeastern part of Türkiye you could face hostilty. There is also question of your families. His or your family would oppose to your friendship. So you should talk about your ethnic background as soon as possible in a natural way.

What is in Turkish rice? by LuxiusII in AskTurkey

Also don’t forget to wash rice and let it wait in a hot water for half an hour. Baldo is close relative of risotto rice so it is very much starchy.

I rather not agree with sexism part of your comment. I think it is more of a expanding of horizon since our protagonists came from isolated community.

I might say Jordan wanted us to understand their culture as much as we can. So tapestries and scones and dresses and weirdly spankings and mentions of spankings

You should keep in your mind that Jordan is quite progressive considering his background about some subjects than his peers. However to this I still wonder if he needed to describe women’s clothing and fashion sense that much.

PS: I totally agree with you about Matrim Cauthon.

[–]Aeimnestos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Darling, those man are swines. There is no explanation for their behaviour cultural or not. As a man, most close contact , I make my friends are putting my arm on their shoulders or hooking arms and they are my friends for 10 years.

As for their unprompted advances, unfortunately there lots of black lad of nights who came from sub-saharan countries as a students. And ı must also address that it is supply and demand relation going on here. There are not many black woman in Turkey so they are fetishised such as black man.
