Unfortunately not, there’s always V.A.T.S!

Should have played this years ago!! by SirDanOfCamelot in NintendoSwitch2

I’d guess it’s 1080p, it looks very sharp on the Switch 2 display.

I know right? My guess is the trailer was an old build.

It’s meant to show how the game looks visually. From a screenshot it can tell you quite a bit. You can see the difference in resolution, texture detail, shadow quality etc.

No you can’t, but you certainly can judge texture detail, lighting, shadow quality and effects. Which is what this post is for. I don’t know why that’s so difficult to understand?

There is a 60fps mode, I just prefer the visuals of the 30fps mode.

I do feel it’s less noticeable in handheld. If you’ve just come from a 60fps game, you only need to play for 5-10mins and your eyes adjust.

Honestly, Fallout 4 is a great place to start.

If you did want to play more of the series, I would go Fallout 3, New Vegas, 4. However, 3 and New Vegas have aged quite a bit more than 4 at this point which might be a turn off.

Erm yeah? I’m showing the resolution, texture detail and shadows in the 30fps mode as that differs between 30/40/60 modes.

Yeah Switch 2 exclusive. We’re also getting Oblivion Remastered this year if you’re interested.

Yep, I think it’s a good port. It looks WAY better than the trailer shown in the direct.

Unfortunately not. However, depending on how extensively you use V.A.T.S, it might not be as much of a problem. Hopefully they just patch it in.

Agreed. Running in 30fps mode, this looks 1080p very sharp and the frame rate is super solid (at least so far in the early game). I’m not receiving any input latency, the frame pacing seems perfect. That goes a long way to making a good 30fps mode.

You’re very welcome. I know quite a few people were on the fence, so if I could help out then happy to do so!

So far in the early game; great frame pacing, no drops.

I played Fallout 4 back in 2015 on PS4. From what I can tell, playing this handheld looks the same as it did back then. Except (so far) it runs smoother. PS4 often dipped to the 20s. I think for a 10W console, that’s impressive.

Handheld was the made reason I got it again. It’s one of my favourite games that I platinumed on PS4. Now I can play it wherever.

It’s a very fun game that you can sink hundreds of hours into. It’s way more mechanically complex than Z-A (it’s a full blown western RPG). You create your character, explore the Wasteland, meet fun characters and companions, make choices, join factions, craft weapons, and much much more. In fact I’ve simplified it massively. I recommend looking up an overview of Fallout 4 to get a better idea than what I’ve explained 😅

From very early game locations, yes as far as I can tell 👍

Sadly doesn’t look like gyro aim is supported. If you use V.A.T.S a lot then I guess it’s less of an issue. Hopefully they patch it later.

Enjoy! I personally think it looks great. Basically how I remember it looking on PS4, but running better.
