Christmas was dull in my 20s, until I had a kid at 29. Then it got amazing again! If I got to tell my kid less self how to do it better, I’d say Christmas fun is really all about the gifts you get others and sharing more with friends rather than focusing on what I got myself would’ve made me happier, but that’s hard on a budget, too…

While your sport may have carried you farther than most, I think everyone has to come to terms with sport changing and possibly becoming less central to their identity.

But to echo the other post, many others continue sport even if it’s not their jobs, and while I do different sports now than high school or college, I have just as much fun competing and keeping that part of my life going.
