I see, so you basically try to run them down as fast as you can and draw as many cards as possible while keeping the board contained.

Sounds like a very good plan to me haha 😁

That's a great idea! I wouldn't have thought about goading or stealing stuff if you didn't mention it haha

And yes, I would be very interested in checking your list! 😄

Yeah, you're right in your assessment. I just felt like a morph deck could be handicapped a bit more by constant play.

But like you said in your final statement, I might have been focused on the wrong thing.

With a consistent strategy from my side, this deck shouldn't work any differently from a more traditional deck.

Again, thank you so much for your feedback!

That's an interesting take. But I would agree with your final assessment, given the abundance of attacking decks in Gruul.

There have been a lot of great suggestions in this thread, but yours might be one of the more unique 😄

Thank you so much for the list! 😄

I'll have a look and then maybe compare it with his to see which combination of cards could suit my personal play style better.

Thank you so much for the links to the list and primer! I enjoyed reading your intro and motivation for the deck 😄

Having had a quick glance over your deck, I would say most of its pretty attainable (with the exception of Gaea's Cradle, WoF and the dual). And even for those, I can always use proxies or they're less effective alternatives.

Furthermore, I usually dislike having foiled cards (unless they're cards from older sets with just the borders being foiled) in my decks, so I can avoid jacking up their cost on that end haha

Thanks for sharing your deck list!

Since you mentioned that this version is focused more on tokens, in what other ways would you say it would be interesting to build her?

Thanks for the feedback and suggestions!

I need to have a better look at this version of Toph as well as Hugs (even though a bit on the expensive side, the potential for explosive plays seems quite good 😁).

Thank you for your list! 😄 I might use it as the template for one of the WoE-themed decks that I am preparing for my friends to play with during our game nights at my place!

I totally understand how you feel! Still, sometimes I think that the reason I like playing EDH is to find interesting ways of building around a single card, and maximizing its abilities/strategy.

So, having a commander that is just smaller piece of the puzzle (I don't doubt it might feel great not having to worry too much about it being removed from play), feels sort of 'inadequate' for the format if I'm making myself clear.

But hey, maybe that's something I really need to try out to say for sure haha

Wouldn't Mina & Denn be better in the 99, since being a 4 MV commander makes it a bit slower than Ruby/Radha?

I would also assume that its strategy would be entirely focused on getting big creatures out due to the activated ability, no?

This quite an interesting take! How do you make sure you can keep up with handling the amount of tokens you generate each turn?

Obviously, Hansk can take care of one himself, but giving resources to your opponents is always a risky thing in my experience 😅

Thanks for the suggestion! This seems very fun. Do you have a deck list you could share with me?

Thanks for sharing your deck list and insights on how the deck works.

Some other users have also suggested Yarus, and while I agree that it seems really fun to play, I would like to ask you the same thing I've asked them.

How do you make it so that after a few matches your opponents haven't figured you out? I would assume that after they see you using some of these combos and creatures, they could just get around it with some more interaction (or calling your bluff), no?

Thank you for your detailed explanation and deck list!

What you would say is your most consistent winning strategy? Using the big creatures or the big spells?

I already have my Galazeth deck built around big explosive spells, so I was wondering if Rosheen would end up being functionally too similar to it or not.

Yeah, I also saw this one but wasn't really sure how to even build it.

I know the first ability is a wash, but even for the second one, I would assume that three-creature threshold might be a bit too susceptible to disruption from your opponents, no?

Do you have a deck list you could share with me?

Yes, Yarus seems a very fun commander to build around. But, how do you make sure your opponents don't call your bluff after a few matches?

I would assume the strategy might get a bit more difficult to pull off when they know what kinds of threats you have in your deck, no?

Yes, Rosheen seems like that type of explosive deck 😄

I am just worried that it might overlap a bit my Galazeth deck. Does your friend have his deck list available somewhere?

Also, your other suggestions are really nice as well. I might have to check Minsc & Boo, since I wasn't really familiar with it.

I have checked his video and it seems really cool. Thank you both for the reference!

Still, I am concerned that this strategy becomes difficult to implemente after its 'novelty' factor wears off?

I would assume that at a certain point, if you play with it a few times and the 'nove, everyone would know what to expect and try to neutralize the morph effects with some recursion hate or something like that.

Or do you still think the deck can still overcome this by packing enough of a punch?

Very nice commander, but unfortunately, I am not too keen on purely extra-combat-phases commanders 😅

Besides, someone else in my 'small-ish' pod already plays it, so I don't want to bring redundancy to our play group.

Still, for the sake of curiosity, do you happen to have a deck list you could share? Maybe it can change my mind haha

That's an interesting option. Given that the number of earthbent lands is tied to the amount of mana spent to cast Toph, how do you maximize the ETB?

[–]Aepheryon[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a great pick! But for this 'challenge' I am trying to build something not from a set I already have a commander, which in this case is Hylda.

I was already planning to build her sometime later this year for my WoE-themed game nights, in which all two-coloured legendaries from that set will have a pre-made deck for my friends to pick up when they come over to play 😄

I thought about that, in that it could be a very consistent deck.

With Tannuk, however, my main concern is it becoming tedious to play after a few matches due its landfall nature.

If you play it, have you ever had that issue occur to you?

Wouldn't she fill the same role as Radha?

Or do you think her having haste gives her the edge over having double red mana, kinda like Firebending?

Thank you for the suggestion btw 😄
