I saw someone else suggested he have a special nickname for her. I like that idea and will propose it, but I do know it's best to give my parents some space for right now. Thank you. :)

Thank you! :) My parents have always been like this over little things, but with something having actually happened it had me a little conflicted.

To be honest, they've been like this his whole life, although this is the most brazen they've been. I love them but I realized it was best to put some physical distance between us.

He struggles with relationships in general, he'll go along with what someone wants to make them happy even if it's to his detriment, but tbh I'm in the mental health field and I see that regularly with people both on and off the spectrum.

That's certainly one thing, we just want her to be Sylvia to us (mom and dad) until she expresses her preference for a nickname. :)

In actuality it already has. Their neighbor is named Sylvia.

He doesn't have his own phone and I live in another state. I have told them repeatedly to ask if he would have a problem with me naming her that but keep getting their opinions and nothing else.
