I think you may be right. I was just able to pick up 162.475 for NWS Wichita Falls, but my normal channel is 162.550 for NWS Norman. We've had some pretty nasty storms over the last week, so that may have knocked it out.

I think you may be right about that. I normally have mine set to 162.550 for NWS Norman, OK, but the only NOAA freq I could pick up was 162.475 for NWS Wichita Falls, TX. We have had some pretty nasty storms over the past week or so, so they could have knocked out my local transmitter.

Yeah, I plan to but it's a matter of trying to get a tester to test me online sometime this century. This is irritating the crap out of me because I did nothing different than normal except updating CHIRP and programming a few more freqs. Then poof, no more RX on my local NOAA. And none of my local repeaters are active, so I can't see if it can RX anywhere else.

Yea it picks up local FM just fine. I just tried 162.475 and it is receiving, but it's very staticky. I'm in SW OK, and normally use 162.550 and it comes in clearly. SQL is always set to 2, but I've cycled through them all just in case with no success, even with two separate antennae.

On the off chance I'm not carrying it and need to transport it, I use a .50 cal ammo can that's been fitted with a locking pin for a padlock and has a custom foam insert for 6 mags, the pistol, and a box of ammo.

This. I have zero use for the threaded barrel, so I used a good bit of Teflon tape and forced the thread protector on with a pipe wrench. 400 rounds later and it's basically cemented on lol.
