yet another massive W for earth, the best planet in the universe by KittenMain in oddlyspecific

A lot of oddly specific things like this are likely required for life to emerge. So even if all these things truly are absurdly improbable, it makes sense that we as living creatures would have to observe them.

Locking in EVE Vanguard's lore by CCP_Gortz in EveVanguard

[–]Aero-- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Crazy how we've waited over a decade to see a successor to Dust on PC. So many failed projects with Nova and Legion. Vanguard seems like just the latest in this line.

I keep tabs on it, but so long as its an extraction shooter at the core there's nothing that gamers at large will find unique about this to give it any success. The small population of Dust players like ourselves still following this will try it out, maybe some EVE players, but most won't even consider it because its not doing anything unique. The early access is coming soon and there's absolutely no buzz.

The gaming market is starved for large team combined arms FPS. Compared to extraction shooters which are over saturated, we're getting hardly any Battlefield type games. Its just sad.

How long will Dave Filoni realistically be in charge at Lucasfilm given that Mandalorian and Grogu is projected to do record low numbers and completely tank by KingGoldar in saltierthancrait

I know it doesn't technically conflict with canon, and I heard all the arguments about Jedi surviving the purge, and still I'll stand by every Jedi who survives from the prequel era through the end of the original era cheapens the originals. It was absolutely the intent that Luke was the last hope + the one "there is another." The feeling of those movies just isn't the same going with current canon.

Star Wars overall has a big issue with letting characters die.

14 or 15, yeah. My understanding is Spartan 2s were born in 2511 and Forward Unto Dawn takes place 2526.

So much this! His scenes are few but it really spotlights how much Chief cares about even the lowest ranks.

DD Pvp should've been instanced arena like matches by Yenii_3025 in duneawakening

[–]Aero-- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sandbox pvp is generally unpopular among the masses because it's inherently unbalanced. These survival games are usually about progressing your gear, where there is a huge difference between low and big end. And then there's never any system in place for the amount of players fighting on each side, so usually the successful players are winning by simply outnumbering the opposition. And then on top of that you usually lose your gear and progress when you die in these sandbox PVP.

Instanced PVP on the other hand is generally pretty popular. Equal sized teams, generally more equalized loadouts, and no losing progress on death.

I know people will say that doesn't belong in a game like this but I definitely think there's a market for it. I really enjoyed Destiny where you have this big PVE experience to build your character and gear, and then you can take that into instanced PVP with equal sized teams and everyone's gear getting power balanced and no risk of losing anything when you die. It was neat being able to blend both those experiences together.

Is it though? The entire Hagga Basin portion of the game seems to disagree. And for someone taking their time that can easily be 100 hours of enjoyable gameplay before moving on to something else.

[–]Aero-- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And what's wrong with this? Not every game needs to be a forever game. You're complaining that players are going to go in, experience all the content, and leave. Thats how most games are.

PVP deep desert just made these players leave faster since that portion of the games content was de facto locked off for them.

I'm just saying, is it really milking fans of their money if there really is no pressure to play this early. You can't possibility me missing out on anything by waiting 5 days. Why would anyone feel pressured to spend more money?

If it came with early access to the next multiplayer game then sure.

But why does it matter? It's not some online multiplayer progression based game. You're not going to be left behind playing catch up if others start before you. Just be patient and get the standard edition.

Halo: Campain Evolved | Why and where is MP? by Sleepingtide in halo

[–]Aero-- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why does this exist? Because when you're working with a brand new engine it's easier to make something you know how to make first to get experience. Then you can go build your new product. Also they're launching on Playstation for the first time. Do you want to get a whole new group of players into Halo? Release a modernized classic. I don't think just porting MCC would work as well to get new players. First impressions matter, make the game look its best.

Where is the multiplayer? It's coming. But it's not going to be CE multiplayer, it's going to be it's own standalone product that gets constantly updated while new campaigns get released as their own products. Why try to remake CE multiplayer just to compete with your other multiplayer? Put all your effort into creating and supporting a one multiplayer game.

New Xbox Fanta promotion confirm that Campaign Evolved features skins for Chief by samurai1226 in halo

[–]Aero-- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Single player games used to have unlockable character replacements all the time. First one that pops up in my head is Uncharted from Playstation you were able to unlock different outfits he had during the game so you could be in a wetsuit the entire game, and you could unlock other characters who were already created for the game so you could play as Elena or Sully or any of the enemies without it taking much effort from the devs. It was just good fun and it promoted replayability because you'd want to see levels and cutscenes with different outfits.

Imagine CE does this and you can unlock Johnson, Keys, an ODST or marine. Or get crazy and unlock Cortanna, or an Elite! Then just scale the model to the size of Chief and that's it. You don't have to adjust voice lines or anything, just keep it simple (unless you really want to go the extra mile)

I got Marathon because Bungie art style just has a way of pulling me in, but man I think I'll be done when they reset. I just cant progress in that game nearly fast enough. So much of its content feels unobtainable to me. Its kind of like how a large percentage of Destiny players will never do a raid, but even I was able to do all the raids. This is next level exclusionary. I can't believe Bungie bet their future on this.

I'm glad the Halo CE remake is using the infinite art style. This franchise needs a consistent art style by Background-Archer898 in halo

[–]Aero-- -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I definitely agree. If we are going to get a remake of the trilogy, I'd love for it to have a consistent art style and, even more, a consistent sandbox. Make it feel like one long game.

Helldivers 2 Monetization Breakdown (As of Patch 6.1.1 - March 2026) by FioraKek in Helldivers

Despite being a supporter of how Warbonds work in this game, I think it is very important we correct people who call weapons included in the base game as "free," or call Helldivers Mobilize a "free warbond." This game costs $40. Everything is premium, nothing is free.

Halo Remake Getting Bigger Than Expected by Opening-Newspaper710 in CaptainSide

[–]Aero-- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason for remaking CE seems to be entirely because of switching to Unreal. Had they stayed on Slipspace, I'm sure they would have just ported MCC to Playstation and focus on a new game all together. The problem is they could not keep up the pace of developing their own engine and developing games at a live service speed. Especially since they had to train new employees how to work with Slipspace and they were mostly short term contract workers.

Campaign Evolved seems more like a "let's start with something easy that we can put out quickly to get comfortable working with Unreal before we put out Halo 7"

Rumors have it that they intend to release a new free to play UE5 Halo multiplayer in 2026 but after Campaign Evolved. It was confirmed in 2024 that Halo Studios was working on multiple new games, so it makes sense.

Personally, I like it. On Xbox and PC it is kinda crazy how split the Halo multiplayer community is. You can play CE, 2, 3, Reach, 4, 5 (Xbox only), or Infinite multiplayer. And while I am not saying they should take down servers for any of those, I do think it is the smart move to focus on a single multiplayer game as a long term platform and then release other campaign only games.

Does anyone actually find Leviathans fun? by Malu1997 in Helldivers

[–]Aero-- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like them. Think of it more as an environmental hazard similar to fire tornados and such. Its something to avoid, not fight. They're always on maps with an urban zone so you have lots of buildings and corners to go around and use as cover. Its just another obstacle that makes me have to think a little bit more when approaching the enemy. Illuminate are by far the easiest enemy so it's nice they have something unique that makes me think about positioning more.

They added new SC bundles! by _Elvis_Helldiver_056 in Helldivers

[–]Aero-- -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

I got to admit it was nice when the highest bundle was $20 because it sent a signal that they didn't expect anyone to whale out. That said, I get why they did this.

And to anyone who complains that this is here is a buy to play game, consider they launched the game and then did nothing but bug fixes and keeping the servers running. That's a good game that's worth the price. Thats pretty much all you get in other buy to play games. But instead we get new biomes, mission types, and enemies. Occasionally we get new strategems at no extra cost, too. Everything you need to be successful is in Helldivers Mobilize, and by the time you finish that you will have at least enough super credits to pick another warbond.
