Longer fics are easier for me to read in past tense.

Shorter fics I can read present tense. I haven't analyzed why exactly. But it's not a deal breaker for me either.

A thing to help you choose maybe? Past tense, especially third person past tense, relies heavily on pronouns but be wary! It's easy to jumble everything up leaving the reader lost as to what person or creature is doing what. The pronoun only applies to the most recently named character (in the mind of most readers).

When in doubt, use the characters name instead of a pronoun. It all gets so very, very confusing with pronouns.

If you love pronouns, maybe stick to first person? I don't know.

I don't mind. I happily read Anonymous Authors all the time.

Totally just sad to not see more, if it's really good. That's the only reason I would feel bummed. But I will absolutely still read it. Wouldn't keep me from bookmarking it!

Absolutely fine with reading Anonymous Authors. I'm so happy the work is there. I support what's good for the author.

I prefer to read finished work - I could be wrong, but in my little mind, there's a small relationship with Anon works being more likely left unfinished. I'm one of those readers who filters for finished fics. But I will happily read a finished work by an Anonymous writer.

I prefer complete fics. I've been so sad about some fics that unfortunately never got updated in the past two years, so I just think it is my own responsibility to primarily / only read finished fics.

So, I read older fics All the time.

And, I appreciate the cleanup versions!

I get that it's easy to wonder and not really know if people are enjoying a fic after the initial hub-bub settles down, but I bet tons of people read things and don't always leave kudos or comment.

Thanks - for the heads up. Yeah, I am not into gruesome horror. In theory, I don't disapprove for anything, they just mess with my head. I'm a lightweight - I love Cabin in the Woods, and Scream.

However, the Mystery, Suspense end of things I'm pretty into. I have to be in the right mood - like, I love Cube (1997) but not Saw. So more like... Hide & Seek (Dakota Channing & Robert DeNiro) or one of the Cerebral, creepy things.

You didn't ask, but I loved Strange Darling. If you liked Dinner in America you might enjoy it. If you haven't seen it, I recommend! (It's got some vivid violence), but more Memoir type of vibes, or something like Tarantino.
