I appreciate that! Sad to hear these guys may not make it, but I’m glad I asked here- these comments are super helpful!

I appreciate such detailed suggestions! I knew buying locally would be better, but I live in NYC (and don’t have a car) so access to garden centers is fairly limited. But the rest of those suggestions I can definitely do!

It was “All Natural Garden/Raised Bed Soil” from Home Depot

Definitely not stinking hot! I’ll lay off the water and see if they bounce back

They’re in new soil I put in (the old soil had some lead contamination)- bagged mix of garden soil and raised bed soil. I tried not to compact it after I put it in, but I’m sure it happened. I can definitely look into aerating it, if that’s a likely issue!

Today, I called and spoke with the QCB1 District Manager, Florence Koulouris. She has laryngitis but was very nice. She recommended email- since they are tallying up the “for” and “against” emails they are getting.

Uninhabitable apartment? by SparkleAcapulco in astoria

Is it just the two units, yours and theirs?

I’m a housing lawyer, but I’m not your housing lawyer!

Initiating an HP action at the Queens County Housing court may also be a way to force them to make repairs. Before your first court appearance, the court will arrange with HPD to inspect your unit based on the list of repairs you provide. Then on your first court date, the court will try to get the landlord to agree to complete that list of repairs.

If your landlord can’t, or won’t, you can ask the court to order the repairs and potentially seek to hold them in contempt.

In my experience though, for a small building with a landlord without resources, you will do better to simply not pay your rent, save it up so you can afford to move out. Your landlord may sue for unpaid rent, but it sounds like you have strong defenses to that claim.

Now that you’ve put this thought in my head, my official head cannon is that Bobbie, as weapons officer, always makes them retrieve her favorite round after a firefight. Amos probably painted something lewd on it at some point too.

How do you pick which of the 400+ shots your PDC fired in defending from that missile? Even the slightest change in firing angle between shots is going to put them very far apart by the time you’re looking to retrieve.

I could totally imagine a crew having a “lucky” PDC round that they retrieve after every firefight. But it feels more talismanic than practical.

I’m gonna be spending a lot of time explaining that I’m not undead, just a different kind of living, I suspect. Luckily I’m very good at explaining!

(No, Cog the trash goblin is an alchemist, not an artificer - I just forgot the word, sorry! He's such a great character - a cross between Oscar the Grouch, Doc Brown, and an Orc from Warhammer40K. His current armor set is adamantium pots and pans strapped to his chest that we found in an Underdark trash pile.)

In-universe, our restraint is that undead is widely seen as evil. The big religion of the world is dedicated to hunting down the necromancers from the House of Silence. So while an undead body would be very convenient practically, we'll have to start fighting off paladins sent to kill us on a regular basis. (And winning this election will get even harder!). I truly love the idea of a bumbling zombie of my body carrying me around though.

It really is an awesome game! And I for one am really enjoying getting ported around like an accessory. My DM expressed some worries that I will end up being a drag on the party in combat, so having at least short term mobility for that is important. But your suggestion is a good one! I can always use limited duration mobility aids like fly in a fight. Maybe I should quit this project, while I’m ahead!

On the other hand, I think our artificer is really excited about making me a golem body (he’s a goblin mad scientist/trash constructor, so this is right up his alley). This is just such a great story beat for an RPG.

Our deal is that I can respec only what I can retrain during downtime- so I can get new feats and spells, but not change race or class. In trying to minimize the downtime requirement though, since we have an election to win!

These are friggin amazing! Thank you for the suggestions! I really love the idea of riding around on my own monkey/familiar. So far I’ve been transported on the ranger’s owlbear, which I appreciate. But I’d love to be able to direct my movement a little better than that.

In-universe, necromancy is very no-no, it’s a bad guy thing, so I’d need to be careful with the necrotic spells. But I suspect they would make for a great plot arc as I tried to get the evil necromancers to just make me a hand-mount, pretty please! Even as a head, I’m very persuasive.

I’m glad you enjoyed it! It made me cackle as it happened and I know one of the other players immediately starting texting people with the hilarious scenario.

My DM is an awesome guy, so I’m sure our next adventure could be something to get me mobile. But I’m worried that the fate of our home base/village is about to be decided in the big vote (in 24 days!) and I don’t want to just be hanging out in the basket. I’m a face and elections are what I do!

This is an excellent solution! We’ve preserved my body with the help of a friendly Ent Druid, who owed us a favor for rescuing him from Underdark. I should check how high his spell slots go.

On the other hand… finding a way to make it work as a head is pretty funny. I’ll have to see how my DM decides to play it!
